I know that some bow companies like to stretch the truth a little now and again on their arrow speeds. Just like some car manufacturers would say that this particular model got 35 mpg, when in fact only would get @ 27-29, for instance. I read that both IBO and AMO base their figures on a 30" draw length and 70 lb. draw weight. As I read further, it also mentioned that IBO would allow up to 82 lbs. on the dw. As long as the gpi was 5. Just curious what 'other' news anybody else has about this and what are your opinions.

The actual acronyms are AMO vs. IBO speed.

IBO is a measurement of 70lb draw, 350gr arrow, and a 30" draw.

AMO is a measurement of 60lb draw, 540gr arrow, and a 30" draw.

While most bow manufacturers use IBO measured speed these days they are both simply a way to compare bow speed and efficiency under a standardized system. If you had a 100' distance to measure you could do it accurately with either a ruler or a yard stick, these speed measurements are the same type if deal.

Big Brainfart...yeah. I meant AMO. ATA is axle to axle. Thanks for the 'correct' acronym. Duh...
