Respectfully disagree. To me, he's a one-dimensional player that thrives during league play. And, killer instinct is an unknown, until you kill something. All the guys you're comparing LeBron with have actual kills (championships) under their belts. He shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence with "the greats", until he kills something.
Sure he is. But, we're not talking about Dan Marino (or football). Think more along the lines of mentioning Tony Romo with the likes of Terry Bradshaw; Joe Montana and John Elway.
OK...no more analogies...I at least expected a response! Anyways, basketball v. basketball v. basketball Lebron averaged, last year granted, close to 30-8-8 so clearly he isn't one dimensional. Positional defense? Somewhat lacking. But, when you deal with the caliber and size of athlete that he is (the likes of which we've never seen, Magic is no comparison there) he can compensate for his defensive "inadequacies" simply through athleticism. Back to the basket game? Lacking. Open court game? Most unstoppable in the league. Mid to long range jump shooter? Average for a great. Overall skill set? Average again. (for skill set see Kobe Bryant/Pau Gausol). Athleticism? Unparalleled in the history of the game at that size. I've never been an LBJ fan, I think he's selfish and spoiled. But, make no mistake, he is the first of his kind. Attitude? Not so much. First of his kind in the NBA? For sure.
I'm not sure which part of my post (or which one) you're arguing against, really. He's (IMO) an offensive player. He doesn't deserve to be mentioned with the greats of the games he was being compared to, earlier. He lacks their credentials.
