No... she's a wounded Veteran. That doesn't make someone a hero. It makes them a wounded Veteran who we should acknowledge but not make them a hero. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time... it's just unlucky.... not heroism. The word is over used. A uniform does not make you a hero... you're a soldier. Just as the cop that gets shot is a cop who was shot. How about the civilian that gets shot? What's he.... not necessarily a hero.... but he's damn sure shot.
Well said David!!! He didn't say she wasn't a HERO, what he said was that HEROES don't run around claiming to be heroes. Heroes usually lay low, and don't want the recognition, or something to that effect. As far as Joe being a deadbeat dad, well we all know that divorce can get ugly, and politics can get uglier... A little research shows that he's in good standing with his child support, otherwise he'd had been censured or maybe worse in Congress. This my friends is the LIBERALS taking sucker punches at a conservative politician, one who very likely is far more likely to represent the values of most of us on this forum than his opponent may be.....

Politics is never clean anymore. It's up to the voters to decide what is slanderous crap and what is truth. It looks like he was trying to coerce her into a debate and he seems to be afraid since she has a military history with combat experience and he does not. The parts that bother me is she is still in the national guard and running for a political office. If she wants to be a politician, she needs to retire from the military. I was a little irked when I looked at the link and saw her sitting in uniform. I then went to her website to see if it shows her in uniform while campaigning and it does not. Also, Walsh, who has never served, has no business talking negative about any veteran.
Fiscal responsibility, reducing government dependence, anti-Socialized Healthcare, doesn't sound so bad to me.... Bruce, unfortunately, I wouldn't expect you to have a very open mind about him as you already are biased against him in calling him a "deadbeat dad" in the thread title. He's in a Democratic Hotbed district, that he'll likely lose, and as much because of negative libelous press potentially as anything.... He does have somewhat of a point in some of his "critical statements." As for his opponent, she's used her military service and tragedy to push her cause indeed if you read up on her, and in most situations a severely disabled person is medically retired because it's the "responsible" thing to do, ensures her lifetime healthcare (EARNED not GIVEN), and a lifetime pension to ensure she can take care of herself and her family. She's been used as a pawn by the left, promoted though she's not capable of serving in a full capacity, leaves me shaking my head.... Not saying she's all bad, not saying she's all good, I just know how some of it works, I helped push paperwork through in a hurry to get soldiers medically retired before they expired to ensure families were taken care of on couple occasions....
I know nothing about this race but I will say that I agree with his retort,if in fact she is running on one issue. Which happens to be she is a wounded veteran(and I thank her for her sacrifices) but where does she stand on issues. Why is she "qualified" to serve office.
In the 2008 presidential election John McCain OFTEN spoke of his military service in debates, interviews, and political adds....I'm assuming some of you have a problem with that as well? Of course not...he is a republican right? I can't imagine what some of you on here would say if Obama had made remarks regarding John McCain indicating he speaks of his military service too much or went so far to say is not a real hero....even though McCain (like Tammy Duckworth) does not even claim to be one in the first place What a desperate politician this man must be...can't wait to see what this classless fool says next
Nope, didn't have a problem with John mentioning the service. It was his life, his career and he endured the worst of the worst. It shaped his heart and mind for ever. If you've been in enough crap you think of it every day. It's hard not to mention it once in a while. John fought a heroic battle with the NVA inspite of Jane Fonda.

That very thought that empower those as you would put it black, blacks or more to it Blacks in an authoritative position than a Black person that can do the job with the ability and know how to do so. Voting for a person that pump gas for Chief Mechanic while you over look the person that's rebuilding the engine of your car while he teaches others is better suited for the job. He may have sent the guy to pump gas because he's better suited for doing just that. Being a Black person I see this all the time. So saying she got in that helicopter where someone else wouldn't and would send someone to do a job that they have no ideal what's going on or how to get it done is what you call delegating. A person that will shy away from a fight that will or could have an outcome over those under your command or family is cowardice or punk being a azz. And if John McCain had been voted for based on his military service, rather than his record as a Senator, he'd likely have been voted in as president correct??? John McCain was villianized by the media as GWB's pet monkey, when in reality he was far from it. I didn't like McCain, but I had to vote for McCain to vote AGAINST Obama. I don't care what you did 40yrs. ago, I want to know what you've done lately, likewise, in her situation, she's claiming 20+ yrs. of Army Service, whereas she's not a deployable/serviceable soldier for nearly 8 yrs, but somehow she's been kept in the Army National Guard, and even promoted, though she is NOT capable of physically "serving." Don't get me wrong, I commend her for her service, and think what she'd done is very honorable, however, just because she's a disabled veteran/service member (really doesn't qualify as a VETERAN until she's OUT of the service), doesn't make her qualified to become a Congresswoman. Joe Walsh is known for inciting anger amongst ignorant and easily offended people, and this isn't much different. He didn't insult VETERANS in general, he merely stated that she was running based on her Service record, and using that as her "platform," rather than the ISSUES, in a round about way, near as I can tell. He'll not be re-elected, but he may have been a better representative of the people. But when the NATIONAL media makes a big story out of something, the bad press is irreparable, and his chances are now shot!!! The LEFT controls the MEDIA, and gives the ignorant people just enough information to sway their opinions without really "informing them." Agreed on one thing Gary, there are a LOT of MORONS in the Illinois Political Field!!! Not sure he's a "Moron," more of an antagonist that riles people up, by sometimes saying what is OBVIOUS, but also inflammatory at the same time. His comment on governmental dependence isn't too far off, but while Jesse and Al will argue that more White's are on government "dependence" than Blacks, the proportion is significantly higher for one group vs. the other. Again, another situation which rather than standing around looking for the next fire to throw gasoline on, Jesse and Al COULD be enabling "their people" to strive towards a better life. Which is a likely to be a better representative of the people, I cannot tell you, but I can almost guarantee, that Duckworth will very likely be an OBAMA puppet if he is re-elected, and she is serving in Congress.
