My buddy is wanting to get into some filming and looking to get a camera. He is looking at the Panasonic I posted. Was debating between this one and the canon g40. Does anyone know anything about this camera? I told him if post it and see what you all thought about it. Thanks! 60448.png

Go to the cannon refurbished website . They had g40's there a couple days ago real cheap. I bought a refurb g30 about a yr ago and it came and you cant tell its not brand new. Works perfectly and half the cost of new. Just checked. In stock $799

Well the Panasonic has the edge over the Canon in regards to video formats. Not sure if the Panasonic has the capability to use a lanc controller. Many users would agree with me that having a remote greatly improves your experience of filming. The Canon does have that option.

I personally run a Canon G20 as my main camera and record in 1080/30fps. I shoot my slow motion and B-roll on my Canon 80D DSLR, 1080/60fps.

Good to know Jacked, I'll pass on the info and let him see what he thinks is best. What lanc remote do you use with your canon? That's what I have and was getting ready to hopefully purchase one for this year's hunt.

Varizoom remote works well with all the cannons. In my opinion trying to self film a bow hunt is an extremely difficult task. Now tryna do it with no remote makes it next to impossible. I'm talking about the northeast where the deer are so skittish they run if you blink too hard.

One other thing is that editing in 4k is a son of a b%^$#^& unless you have a super computer.

I was looking at varizoom. Which zoom do you have , the side to side or push knob? Does a man need the one with apologize the focus options in your opinion or the basic record and zoom all ya need?

Didn't think about editing 4k . I'll let him know.

    Thanks.
