http://finance.yahoo.com/family-hom...-2011-will-never-know?mod=family-kids_parents Most of it seems right on, not sure about a few of them.
It actually makes me a bit sad which is ironic considering I'm a technology teacher, but by nature, I'm a VERY nostalgic person, and it worsens as I get older. I think technology can be good, I think an over dependence on it all can be bad. One thing, Absolutely false. There will ALWAYS be a market for prosumer/professional cameras, both video and photography. I don't foresee the technology in a portable device overtaking the capabilities of a true dedicated image/video recording device. When a do-all device comes along, the "do-all" comes at a sacrifice somewhere.
sadly this is a bad analogy... cameras and paint are completely different mediums... but cameras and cameras aren't... film will not disappear, but it will become a very tiny niche that almost no-one except enthusiast will really know about... it is very likely that 99.9% of kids born these days will never ever see a film camera in use or look at negatives of pics taken of them... they might see some of mom and dad, but that'll be about it... imho, EPA will crack down on the chemicals required for processing and the only people that will be able to use the stuff will be a few small pro print labs or a few wealthy individuals that just can afford it... btw - we've got a couple old nikon and pentax 35mm cams if you're interested in 'em
