I got out for 3 hrs yesterday morning but didn't really think it would be fruitful but wanted to just get out and go through all the motions anyway, kind of regrease the gears. Yesterday afternoon I thought would be the payoff but I started getting phone messages and texts about other stuff and then had to cut the afternoon/evening short. Today was just blown and then, I thought a 2 hr window for hunting this evening opened up. Got ready to go and was just waiting for an event to happen at 6:00. The vent took a weird turn and now, I am sitting with my stomach in a knot and not able to get out for the small window of time I had............. On the phone now ......... arrgh!
Talking on the phone and the dog runs to the back of the pen and is staring intently into the woods. Get the binos out and, yep, young doe walking across the 20 yd trail This season can only get better............
We all know this is getting the back luck out of the way early so that the rest of the season you will have nothing but success. Good luck Bruce.
Thanks guys and, yes, this was definitely bad luck. I had to deal with the calls, no ignoring them. But, in the end, what was looking like a bad weekend, life-wise, turned out to be surprisingly good. If you keep your cool when life serves you that **** sandwich you may not have to eat it, someone else will. Now for the hunting luck to turn.
Phone messages and texts??? Turn the dang thing off and check it when you get home and too dark to hunt. If it's real important.... they'll find you before hand. Texts indeed. Pfffffttttt.
