Looking to explore some new arrows Using black eagle carnivores now but I want to look around some, suggestions? I want a little heavier of an arrows for hunting Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
If you want to stick w/Black Eagle the Spartan, Rampage and Renegade are all heavier than the Carnivore. They're all smaller diameter shafts as well so they should penetrate better. The Rampage and Renegade are both .204" I.D. so they will accept a brass HIT insert if you wanted to add some serious weight up front.
What is your current arrow weight and what you wanting to the weight to be? That would make it easier to make recommendations.
My current arrow weight is about 365 grains I'm seriously upgrading some stuff like a new roller glide now sight and rest and strings I'm looking for about a 425-450 grains Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I shoot Easton Axis at 27 3/4" length. With blazer vanes, wraps, and 100 grain broad heads they come in at 430 grains. You will probably need an arrow that is 9.5-10.0 GPI.
I've had good luck with Victory. I'm looking to switch from their V-Force to the RIP 350 spine. 8.2gpi, with a 60grain insert and 125grain tip. Gives a decent weight with a good FOC.
Not necessarily - putting additional weight on the front of your arrow in the form of a heavier insert is a great way to add to your total arrow weight and increase FOC without having to shoot a heavier shaft. Last year I shot Black Eagle Rampage 350s which are 8.2 gpi at 28" with 50 grain brass HIT inserts up front and Lumenoks on the back - total weight right around 430 grains. The Rampages actually come with a 56 grain stainless steel half-outsert that would put arrows right in the sweet spot of where he wants to be.
You can't beat the Easton 5mm and 6mm FMJ's best on the market Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Just got my first set of FMJ they shoot well but the true test will be whitetail season !!!! Can't wait Mike4christ
They are a great arrow (FMJ's). I may come back to them if I get a new bow or new limbs. My Easton bloodlines have served me well though so far and I have a dozen so no reason to switch just yet Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
FMJs are awesome for whitetails! Plenty of momentum to zip 2" Rage right through with a short DL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fmj's all the way. I'm shooting a 300 spine with a 50gr insert up front. Maybe a little heavy for some weighing in at 565gr. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm shooting the Spartans right now and they are a great arrow. With a 30gr insert weight, they come in right at 415gr. I may go with something even heavier when I order some shafts next month. I may try the Maxima Reds with a 50gr insert weight. 28" carbon to carbon will be right around 445gr and if I ever wanted to go lighter, I'd just swap out the 50 for a 20gr weight and I'd be right around 415. That's the only problem I have with my Spartans. Unless you pull the bushing, you can't swap weights. The bushings are glued and can come out with some heat but you run the risk of damaging the shaft. A Gold Tip FACT wrench and some weights are a good investment Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Do they make brass inserts for them, I don't know why but I like the look of a brass insert in an arrow Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
