I am just starting traditional archery, i am borrowing my uncles old recurve for the rest of the season and wanted you guys opinions on arrows. I am 5'7" 160lbs with a 28.5" draw length. The bow is a bear archery tigercat recurve with an AMO of 56" amd for poundage it says "50/55#". There also appears to be a cereal number on it or something and that is "TG02131". I'm all for shooting heavier arrows but i really have no idea when it comes to traditional archery so suggestions and explanations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I don't know much on the subject but you 5-7 with a 28.5 draw length, maybe I'm wrong but that seems a tad long. I'm 6-1 and my draw is 28.
That's what my compound bow's draw length is. It may be a little long but it is what i was used when i purchased my bow half thinking i was still going to grow a little bit. I did Shoot with a trigger release and i plan on shooting without one with the recurve so it may effect my draw length a little bit. So it may be closer to 27.5 or 28. I guess i don't really know for sure yet because i dont have any arrows.
I'm 5'10" and my draw length is 31". My anchor point is just infront of my ear and my arm is fully extended. My draw length has been confirmed by a local family owned sporting goods store, and the 3 men who run the store are all avid bow hunters. Roy
Everybody's a little different.. I'm 5' 10" and draw 30". but as a rule your draw will be a little shorter than it was with a compound. Same with arrows, I prefer 50-55# spine wood, 31" BOP.. my bow is 52#@29 1/2".. tried carbons for several years but finally gave up on them cause they wouldn't fly to my satisfaction. woodsman
