Since I have become a member of this forum I have found myself looking into the more specifics of my Bow. My question is... How do I find out what is the best arrowto shoot for my setup. I'm not really knowlegeable about spine, grain and all that. So with that said let me know so I can use my bow to it's fullest potential. Thanks everyone!

Eastons website has a decent shaft selector on it. You select your type of cam, draw length and weight and it gives you a few choices. You are about the same as me for DW and DL I shoot the ST Axis 400s.

If your DL is 27 I would guess your arrow is about 26" long right? Draw length doesn't figure into the eqation. Arrow length is what matters. A shorter arrow is stiffer than a longer. You would most likely be fine with something in 500 spine if you want but 400 will definetly work.

So when your looking at different arrows look at the specs. Find one that weighs what you want and a spine deflection of .400 +\- a little.

Not to hijack the thread but how do you like that bow? I have been eyeballing them.

Love the bow so far...just got it recently. No complaints so far.

My arrow length is actually 28...should I go shorter? How much of a difference will that make? Right now i'm shooting Gold Tip Hunters.

draw length does figure in to the equation in reference to arrow length. A 29" arrow with a 25" DL is very different than a 29" arrow with a 28.5" DL.

Keep the length if you're happy with the speed. It really depends on what you specifically want out of the set-up. With that specific bow, using a .400 spine arrow at 28" I think a 125gr tip out front should balance out the spine nicely, but if you have/want to use 100gr tips, they should work out okay as well. I'm a firm believer that it's always better to go stiff rather than week on a spine. Weak tends to be more difficult to tune from what I've seen.

I havn't yet checked the speed since it is a new bow but I will do it this week at the local shop. After that I will or will not change up my arrow selection. Thanks a lot for the input.

I'm using the Gold Tip 5575 that are .400.

whats up gabe! on the arrow thing i like my arrows a little heavier and thicker i shoot the easton gamegetter 2117 xx75 and they are awesome they are tough and group really good i mean you couldnt squeeze a breath between them in the bag. i like a little more length on my arrow than protocal it just works 4 me. thats what i recommend dont get to brainy with it keep it simple and just do what works best for you alot of people try to get all scientific and it usually just winds up costing you alot of time and money to figure out what i just told you do what works for you

Yeah that's what I was thinking also...I'm gonna stay with my same arrow. I have been shooting them for a while and they work for me. I will go and check the speed this week and decide if they need to be shorter or not.

    Gabe,
At 29" w/ a 100 or 125 grain tip a 5575 should be about right, a little better w/ the 125gr tip, but still good w/ a 100gr tip. Resectively, you'd have 14.3 and 12.1% FOC with the 125 and 100 grain tips which should equal GREAT ARROW FLIGHT!!! At 28" the 100gr tip will spine moderately stiff, but the 125 should spine just mildly stiff, but you should still be able to get them to tune, just will have a smaller margin of error.

Good Advice Doug! A 4 to 5fps lose going to a 125 tip over a 100 tip would not be noticable and the benefits would outweigh any disadvantage.
