I just ordered a Samick Sage 62 TDwith 45# limbs. I need help with choosing a hunting/practice arrow. Arrow weights still comfuse me. My last unit was a Bear compound given to me by a friend as a whole kit 12years ago, sitting in my garage for the last 8 or so.

First off you need to know your draw length. Then you will know what weight you are actually pulling on your bow. The next is confusing even for me, I have shot wood arrows out of both my recurves and compound bow for over 25 years. When it comes to the new arrows (carbon) you need to locate a chart that will help you find an arrow that will work for you. These charts work using your draw weight, bow type and weight of pull to determine an arrow that will in most cases work for you. Hope this helps you in getting started. Maybe someone here with more experience with the newer arrows can help you more.

What is your draw length? What weight Broadhead do you want to shoot? I have the sage with 50lb limbs. At my draw lenght I am pulling around 47 lbs. I shoot a 30inch Gold Tip 3555 Traditional Shaft with a 50 grain brass insert and 175 grain Simmons or magnus1 broadhead. At that weight I would probally try the Gold Tip 1535 shafts. Here is a Web site that you can go to and Give Big Jim a Call and he will help you out witha arrow setup for you. http://www.bigjimsbowcompany.com/
