Has anyone ever designed or tried to design an arrow tracking system?

What i was thinking of is something like a microchip inside the arrow, that could then be traced by a transceiver, (something like you use on a falcon or ferret, but smaller) this could save a fortune is lost arrows.

I know there wouldn't be much call for it for wooden arrows, but with the cost of some ally and carbon arrows, something like this could soon make it's money back.

The chip would have to be removable so you could remove it from old arrows, and put it in your new ones.

It's a good idea, but probably wouldn't be cost efficient.

Just out of interest, on what grounds is it illegal?

I could see the usefulness of an arrow tracking system, I'd rather see a game tracking system. Something that detaches from your arrow on impact and stays w. the animal. Like you said, some type of microchip that doesn't affect the arrows flight.

I would consider paying good money for a system like that, but like said before, the cost of an arrow tracking system would probably not be cost effective.
