I just picked up my 2011 Bowtech Assassin, today.

I'm still waiting to throw on my sight and rest, as well as decide on an arrow.

I'm looking at the Easton Flatline Surgical or the Easton ST Axis N-Fused

The Flatline was suggested to me, and, I trust the person who made the suggestion, but, always up for some input. How important is this hidden insert thing ?

I'm not all that concerned with speed. I'm looking for "huntability" and consistent accuracy.

    70lbs draw and 29". 100g fixed b/h. Likely with 3" quick spins.

    Thanks.

As fast as that bow is, I think at 29" DL, you're likely gonna need a .300 spine, but you may end up needing a 125gr tip to balance out the spine if you cut it shorter than 28". I personally like a heavier tip, I'm shooting 29.5" .340 arrows w/ 125gr tips out of my AM35 (IBO 316) and Trykon XL (IBO 314), and both spine out about perfect, so being a 333 IBO rated bow, you're likely gonna need a little stiffer spine, but if you cut the arrows shorter, you may end up okay w/ .340. I don't have access to OT2 right now, but I'd be willing to bet that a .300 spine at 28.5" w/ a 125gr tip would be almost PERFECT out of that set-up.

As far as arrows in particular go, that's a crap-shoot depending on what weight range you want to try to stay in. I lke heavier arrows, and shoot a 445gr arrow out of my set-ups, but that's just me.

    Thanks..

The 340 and 350s were recommended for my set-up, which will include a 100grain tip.

I have no idea how long the arrow will be, or what my draw weight will be, in the end. I was going to let the arrow tell me what it wanted....You still dont think there is a fit for a 340 or 350 with my 100g B/H set-up, even in the lower 60lb range with, say, a 28.5" arrow ?

As I said above, I'm not going for speed...If the bow is fast, great, but, I'm not looking to hold on to speed, I want K/E(I attribute failed penetration to a light arrow, and, the loss of a buck, to the speed thing. He lived, but I wasnt looking to have him keep doing that :))

Set it up at 65#, and a 28.5 .340 arrow should work fairly well. Similar spec's to the Katera I had (330 IBO vs. 333 IBO, and both dual cams moderately aggressive), I was weak at 70#, but pretty good mid 60's. Sounds like a great deal on a pretty nice set-up, I had to do a little searching to find it, but that's a nice looking bow, nice 7" BH, and good speed. Powerstroke is gonna be a little stiffer than my Katera being an inch shorter, but still should be a nice shooting rig from the sounds of it.

If you are serious about wanting penetration over speed then you'll forget the flatlines and the 100 grain tip unless you are going to use a weighted insert. Then you'll most definitely need the .300's.

I'm shooting carbon express piledrivers and like them. At 28" and a 100 gr tip I'm at 460 gr. I'm shooting them at 275 fps with my sr71 and am getting great penitration with them. I'm only at 63# and 27.5" draw length.

I'm going to see what works.

I was just shooting the bow today. I used the arrows I'm using on my current hunting bow, Beeman ICS 300 at 28.5", with a 100g field point. They shot great. Slapping shafts out to 50yards.

I dont intend to use these arrows for this bow, but, I wanted to put a bunch of shots through the bow, let the string settle and get a feel for it.

The thing shoots like a dream...It's almost as smooth as my Nitrous, almost..

I shot the beeman Mfx, Which is i am pretty sure the same arrow as the ST axis Infused. I was at the shop the other day with some guys shooting Much faster bows, With mayhem arrows, My arrows went on average 4" deeper into the target.
