Like my OCD aint bad enuff I have to go & read sevral post about arrows being (could be wrong with actual #s) something like .003 or.005 straight !!! and that just a few thousanths makes a difference in the accracy of these things , thats some serious tollerences.

since I'm such an old fart & dont know my (fill in blank) from a hole in the ground anyway I cant help but ask, how straight do they need to be now days ?? is that enuff to make a arrows shoot inaccurate ??

Thanks in advance, just had to ask.

Honestly I don't feel it makes a big difference to the "Hunter". I think it more important to target shooters then anything. I always want to shot the straightest arrows I can just because it makes me feel better. To the Hunter tho I don't feel it is a big of a deal as it is to Target Shooters.

I understand wher your come'n from, same difference as a (rifle) bench shooter VS a hunter, but consider'n its only a few thousanths I dont see how they can get any straighter, just seems to be serious nit picky, but maybe a lot of archers & gun shooters have a little OCD go'n on.

But if no one bothered to refine our equipment we'd still be shoot'n with sticks, strings & flint.

Ever seen a slow motion video of an arrow in flight? That joker's flexing like crazy. Crookeder than dog's hind leg. I don't want to shoot crooked arrows if I can avoid it but I doubt if a couple of thousandths of an inch would make much difference, if any, in the overall scheme of things. I expect my form makes more difference than anything. If and when I get my form down perfect I might start worrying about those thousandths.

The arrows I am shooting now are.001 and before I was shooting .003, I could notice my groups tighten up a little bit. The way I think about it is every bit of accuracy still counts when hunting. As hunters we are wanting to put the most lethal shot on a deer so that way they dont have to suffer.

It's meaningless for a hunting bow and broadheads especially for close whitetail shots. $50 difference/dozen? No thanks.
