Hi guys, I got a bowtech assassin its set at 60# and 29 inch draw. my arrows would be 28 or 29 inches with 100 tip. my question is which spine do I need to go with for gold tip arrow. I have been told 400 and 340 due to higher ibo of the bow. I was looking at either the XT hunters or the velocity XT arrows. thanks for any help you guys can give me.
With only being at 60# I and a 28" arrow there is really no need for a stiffer spine than .400. .400 is about perfect actually. You should have good success with that.
I shoot a Bear Attack at 70lbs with 28" d/l and use 27.50" Easton axis 100 tip with a 400 spine, works great
A 28.5" .340 spine with a 125gr tip up front should balance out very well. A .400 is gonna be weak, even down to 27" and a 75 gr tip. Much easier and safer to stay with a stiffer shaft, especially for BH tuning.
mnhunt, Actually, optimal hunting spine would probably be around .350. I can run your numbers If you wish. My competition bow has the same set up, but with shorter arrows. Do you have anything else on the string? Send me a PM if you want me to run your numbers. Those Assassins are pretty sweet bows.
