308fps with a 396 grains arrow is plenty to go though an animal. IMO you would be wasting speed for extra KE you don't need

You need to come over sometime and shoot a Maitland Retribution. It's impressing a Lot of people :)

Kewl!! The site only shows a fraction of what I offer. Let me know if you need a price on anything.

There is never any harm in shooting! Anytime you want you can come over and put it on the Ol' Man. I'm easy!! :)

I just chrono'd my 2009 Z28 last weekend (29.5" / 71#). We had issues with it picking up my carbon arrow but it shot a 439 grain FMJ at 274 fps. I figure that puts my 566 grain arrow at 250 fps.

Mine's got a little slower custom string (UltraCam) so you might see a bit better speed (maybe +5fps) with the 452x factory string and cable.

No, I haven't shot one. The closest dealer is 6 hours away. I haven't shot since I was 14y.o., but I've been a fan of "the little guy" for most of my adult life (something about my dad teaching small business management, and entrepreneurship in college...). I started out looking at Hoyt, Mathews, PSE, etc., but then I found New Breed Archery and Maitland. I was on the fence for a long time about whether to get a Maitland or a New Breed. I've ordered a Maitland, so we'll see how I like it. I have a short draw, and I've heard that the New Breed Nemesis is the best for retaining speeds for us short draw folks, so I might have to compare the two to see. I have the VTR limbs/cams coming, so I should have plenty of speed to keep a 425gr arrow above 250fps.

I've talked to a bunch of folks who gave up their Hoyt/Mathews/Bowtech/PSE/etc., to get a New Breed bow, and then they sold their New Breed bow to get a Maitland bow. I'm not much for advertising spreads in magazines, but actual user input will get my attention, and I haven't heard a single person complain about their Maitland. I shot a Hoyt CRX32 at the pro shop (pretty smooth), and folks tell me that the Maitland is smoother than that, so I think I'll be happy.

Now, if only he would come out with a youth bow. I have 7 boys, and 4 of them want to shoot bows (heck, he would have an entire beta testing team in one family!). As it is, I'm hoping I can afford a couple New Breed Spawns if they come out.
