It's a pin that is able to be adjusted for longer or shorter distances.

An example of this is usally a 3 pin floater site. you site in your 3 pins, usually 20, 30, 40 yards....your 40 yard pin then becomes the "floater" for longer distances.

How does a floater pin work if your other 2 pins don't move?

the whole housing will move, so all the pins will move, but your reference pin is the third pin...hence the floater pin. 20, 30, and 40 yard pins, but slide your sight to shoot for 50 yards you still use the 40 yard pin and the same goes for 60, 70, and 80 yards and so on. Some people choose to use the 2nd pin as their floater also, it is all preference at the end of the day. Me personally I use the 3rd pin when using a floater.

Look on eBay or Amazon and see what you can find. Kudos for being determined to better yourself as an archer.
I'll keep my eye out for something and I'm sure somebody else will chime in also.

I'm the same as Jeepwillys and either go with a Spot Hogg or a MBG. Both out of your price range, but well worth it in the long run. I'm sure if you look around enough though now you can find something good that will work until your able to spend some more cash. Good luck! Kudos to you being so young and teaching yourself. Stick with it and always remember take it seriously and always stay learning, but always have fun!!!

Check out Copper John for a sight that is in your price range and also tough as nails. There are several on ebay right now that can be had for a great price. I paid less than $20 for mine. Normal retail is $75-$80.

Make sure to get the Dead Nuts 3 Mark III (mulit pin) or Mark IV (single pin). It is all metal. The other models have some plastic parts.
