I've been researching arrow's and I've came up with two choices so far, the Carbon Express Maxima Red SD and the Carbon Express Piledriver Hunter. Just wanted to know what everyone's opinions are on these two arrows, as well as, your favorite brand suggestions. You can never have enough arrow's.
I am in the same boat...how much weight are you pulling? what is your draw length? what bow re you shooting?
Don't believe the hype. I shoot the cheap cabelas arrows. $5 each I think. Shooting them for years without issue. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
To repeat what was advised to you in another thread; Your brand new to this, buy lower end arrows because for sure your going to break and lose some.
^^^^ very good advice... I been at this game since 1990 and I could not believe how much those Maxima red sd are!!! no thanks
Thanks everybody. I'm planning on going to Cabelas this Monday, I'll check out their arrows. Vabowman, my bow is a Diamond Archery Infinite Edge Pro. Cabelas determined my draw length to be 24 and since I'm new to archery, set my bow at 40 pounds. Mikido, I've never hunted before. Just starting out.
so right now you have no arrows? I would assume you need some 500 spine arrows if you are going to hunt with 40 lbs. probably cut the arrows to 25" -26" and use an 85-100 gr head. need a cut on contact head. magnus stinger is a good one. I would go with Beman ICS Hunters. .500 spine.
If it were me the Pile-drivers would be in my quiver, but that's because I like heavy arrow set ups and high FOC.
although I don't know if you can find .500 spine in Beman. You could go with a .400 spine and be fine
Ripper I would recommend going to an actual archery shop. They will give a bit more one on one help and be more personal.
Ripper I would recommend going hunting with someone you know and seeing how you like it. Learn from others in the field, not the internet Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well I agree, but he may not have anyone to take him or show him. I didn't have that either and that was 10 years prior to the internet...only thing I had was some land and a will to learn. The internet is a tool, but it does not take the place of going afield. Bowhunting is far easier today than it was 20 years ago. Better equipment, more deer, and the learning curve is much less. If you do have someone that can take you then take advantage of it, if not, and you access to land, put your boots on the ground my friend and learn all you can about deer.
That's correct, currently I do not have any arrows, also I don't know anyone who hunts. Today is payday, so I was thinking about buying some arrow's this Monday or Tuesday. My local Cabelas has these Beman Carbon White Box arrows in stock for a good price. For this price, I can pick up two boxes for a total of 8 arrows to practice with. http://www.cabelas.com/product/hunt...-carbon-white-box-arrows/1961893.uts?slotId=3 I'm also going to as others have suggested, and check out an actually archery store for their recommendations.
Definitely the right thing to do, eliminate any bad habits and do it properly and you’ll really enjoy it.
