So I recently had my arrows re fletched with some blazer vanes. I usually get my arrows done about every year because between practicing and deer they vanes get sorta banged up. I decided this year to have my arrows done at a new place that I had heard some good things about and because the previous guy is sort of a flake about returning them on time. In the past with new fletching I couldn't even tell where the guy had scraped off the old glue but this time with the new guy i could easily see where he had scraped and appears to beat the shaft up pretty bad. And since then my shooting has been less than acceptable mainly with consistency and im not blaming the arrows yet but how sensitive are the arrows to this and lastly is there a maximum # of times that you can refltched by scraping?? You should be able to refletch until you damage the shaft. I use an old putty knife with a notch ground out of the front. I have not damaged any arrows yet, some have been refletched 4 or 5 times so far. Get off the old fletching and use acetone to remove the glue, follow up with a scotch brite to rough up the shaft. I use a Bitzenburg and fletch right helical with blazer vanes.
If you look up archery injuries you won't even consider shooting a damaged arrow again Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I got through about a dozen a year. Not sure how much you shoot...but I shoot about every other day year round.
