I got a new bow this year. Set up at 55 dw and 25 dl. Last year my bow was setup with a 27 dl...way too long but I didnt know no better. Used beman ics hunter 400s and rage 40ke heads and was able to take deer but i wasnt happy with those broadheads because the were always flopping open. This year I will use fixed heads just for piece of mind. My question is...Should I change arrows and if so why? So many arrow options and reccomendation I am some confused. Thanks

If you cut your arrows to 25 inches you could probably work well with a 500 spine. Or a 400 if you add extra tip weight and a little longer arrow.

Thanks max. I did cut the arrows down. You are thinking they are too stiff now? I can get some 500 spine arrows. What weight would yall reccomend? I read that to use the heaviest possible to hit hard and the lightest for flat shooting. Maybe my setup is too slow for heavy high foc arrows and I should go lighter?

What bow are you currently shooting? This will help in determining the best spine for your set up.

You need a .500 spine arrow cut to 27 inches with a 125 grain broadhead. Arrow weight will be 365 grains and your FOC a perfect for hunting 15%.

This is assuming you are shooting with a Blazer type vane with the Beman ICS shafts.

400's are way to stiff for your setup.

If you decide on a different arrow than the ICS, I can re-calculate it for you.

The OP is shooting a 25 inch draw length and a soft cam bow at 55 pounds. This setup does not generate a lot of power distributed to the arrow.

So men can use 500 and 600?? Thats what I figured all along but you were so adamant that those were for children or very petite women prompting me to ask.

A man will never shoot a .600 spine, unless they shoot a traditional bow (recurve or long bow). Do you remember how adamant I was asking what specific bow your friend shoots? Had the OP shot a hard cam bow he would be at a .400 spine at the 25 inch draw length and 55 pounds. That stuff matters, a lot.

If the OP and your friend shot the same exact bow, with the same overall arrow weight your friend would shoot about 50 feet per second faster than the OP due to your friends much longer draw length.
