Long time looker and great info here.
    I currently shoot a Mathews Z7 Extreme 60 lbs 29" draw.
I have been using a WB but just recently got a QAD HDX. I got it put on and center shot set. I shot a few in my basement at 10 yards and I know for sure I'm not getting contact on the vanes to rest. Tested with lipstick on the vanes. Dont tell my wife. ;)
I then proceed outside and shoot at 20 and 30 yards. The arrow flight looks like a fish out of water. When the arrow impacts the target it is not straight in, almost an angle. Arrow flight is just plain horrible. I came back inside and shot a few through paper at 6 feet. Left tear about 1-1 1/2" long.
The arrows I'm using are Carbon Express Maxima 250. Total length of arrow is 29-1/2". 100 grain tip. Blazer vanes with a arrow wrap.
Arrow flight when the WB is attached is ok but not the greatest.
From the little bit of reading I have done, I think I'm underspined. I have read that the cams on the Z7 bows are very hard and you have to run a stiffer arrow then what you would think. So I'm thinking about getting an arrow each of the higher spined and try shooting them to see if this helps.
I'm I on the right path of thinking? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you need to look at the rest alignment.

Take your set up to a reputable pro shop, they will get you drop rest dialed in and help you choose the proper spined arrow for your set up.

If you are getting rest contact, try moving your knock point up 1/8".... That's why I like to start with my knock point just a hair high with a drop away... Also make sure your QAD is timed right... Believe it comes with instructions but the two white timing lines on your rest, make sure they are meeting the last 1-2" of your draw cycle...

I'm not getting any contact on the rest. I am most sure of that. Timing is right, coming up the last 1 inch of draw and lines are lined up as per the instructions. I'm pretty sure I have underspined arrows.

Sounds like underspined arrows to me. Try maxima 350s

Got a couple sample maxima 350s from the local archery shop. Shot them last night and its a night and day difference. Arrows fly so much better. Picking up a half dozen this afternoon. This weekend its on like Donkey Kong!

I believe Carbon Express bucks the herd regarding arrow labeling...that is to say, 250 is not indicative of actual spine deflection as measured between two centers. I'm shooting 250's with a 26.5 DL and 72 lbs. I'm pretty sure he has the correct arrow.

    Blackstrap assassin,

I stand corrected. Using the CE arrow selector chart (with a single cam input) I come up with an adjusted draw weight of 66 lbs. since the z7 uses hard dual cams the number is likely higher. A 29.5 arrow does indeed require a higher spine rating. 350 is the ticket.
