Listening to a few guys at the shop talking about having a twist on their arrow fletching. So I watched a few videos on fletching twist and it seemed to stabilize the arrow flight faster. Any other opinion on having a twist on your fletching? Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Personal opinion here... I run a straight 1 degree offset with blazers. I fletch them using an Arizona EZ fletch, it's fast, cheap, and I shoot well with them. I don't have a helical jig but I have shot a few helical fletched arrows and didn't notice much difference. Blazers are softer than say... raptor vanes, so they might glue better/easier on a helical than stiffer ones. Longer vanes, I'm guessing, would be easier to get a helical fletch to stick well and notice a difference. I could be very wrong, though.... or just get some fobs
I had mine set up that way for a while. It did seem to help stabilize the arrows, but they made noticeable noise in flight and seemed to slow the arrow as well (not necessarily a bad thing). What helped the most with arrow flight was keeping my bow well tuned. I now shoot with no twist and they fly well.
Creating drag on the back of the shaft will cure some sins. The spin will not stabilize the shaft like a bullet. Good FOC and proper spine is just as good and faster.
