does anyone have a link to a good site on the finer points of fletching arrows? I bought a jig (jo-jan)but just can't seem to get quite right.

What are you having troubles with? Are the vanes not sticking?

    how to fletch

YouTube is OK but the Bohning web-site is gold. On the package of Blazers they suggest using Ivory bar soap (the white, floating bar from the old days) to clean shafts of oils after having removed residual glue, etc. - man, that works like a champ and there is no odor. Use hot water and wipe ONE time with a clean paper towel from the nock toward the point and allow fifteen minutes air dry time before applying fletching.

Of course, I use Bohning Ferruletite, Fletchtite glue, Blazers and Super Nocks.
It's tough to argue with products that work!

Your fletching jig should have come with instructions and/or a web-site for reference. You can also use a factory arrow as a template.

Got to agree with Konrad. I was using Goat Tuff glue and not washing the shafts before. I too was having problems with the glue sticking. When I started washing the shafts and switched to the fletch-tite platinum I stopped having any of those problems. Only thing is, I don't use soap at all. I use really hot water. I just have a phobia of the residue staying in the fiber.

Actually i can't get the vane to sit right on the arrow, it seems like the jig itself does'nt hold the vane tight enough.

Do you have the jig adjusted correctly? In other words, is the vane sitting flat, and completely, on the arrow?
