Most arrow saws will be just fine at either speed 5000rpm or 8000rpm. I would shop around. They are a lot less expensive than the one at cabela's.

    Look here for instance.

And, though Cabela's is a bit more expensive typically, check their Bargain Cave has sometimes you'll run across a good one for sale in there just as cheap as anywhere. The one we have came from http://www.sportsmansguide.com/ It's a 5000rpm Apple and we got it for right around $100.00 it it works great for carbon arrows and cuts through them like a hot knife through butter. Apparently if you're going to be cutting tons and tons of arrows or aluminums you may want to step up to the 8000rpm.

Probably a dumb question but I've always thought arrow cutting saws used carbon blades?

    Silicon Carbide.

Silicon carbide (SiC, and also called carborundum) is a compound of silicon and carbon. It is most familiar as a synthetic compound that is widely used as an abrasive, but it also occurs in nature as the extremely rare mineral moissanite. Grains of silicon carbide may be bonded together by sintering to form very hard ceramics.

If you're still interested in purchasing that Apple Pro-Saw we carry it in our store and I can match Cabela's price for registered members.

This is the saw we use here at our office and it works great. :tu:
