With everyone buying new bows and a lot of new guys to bowhunting on here (myself included) there have been tons of arrow weight, spine, FOC, KE, etc. questions. I found these links that have kind of helped me out understanding some of the things involved with choosing arrows.

This first link tries to give a real world speed and KE measurements based off your IBO, actual draw length, arrow weight, and poundage. Sounds like its probably pretty close but some of you with chronos can probably confirm numbers. I really like this calculator because of the KE measurement. When trying to decide I am really trying to look at KE numbers instead of speed. Going to try in be in the neighbor hood of 65-70.

    Calculator

    Spine and Tip weight

There are some other really good links about choosing arrows you can get to by taking that second link. Breaks down the process from finding your DL all the way out to calculating FOC and KE.

Anyway was just hoping this helps some of the new guys and the calculator could probably help everyone for a quick reference if they decide they want to change something and don't want to do the math themselves. Thought maybe if the admins saw this they could make a sticky to put links like this in. Just for quick reference without have to slog through 100 post to find something in the search. Anyway hope these help those that are looking for it.

wow that Speed calculator was dead on. I just chronographed my bow and it shot 307 and that is what the calculator said it would shoot. PRETTY cool

I have found that with listing string add on of 20 grains, it is almost always on the mark. If your bow mfgr is off on the listed IBO then you will see more of a diference.
