i am an avid archery shooter but have only taken 2 deer with my old bow. i have since changed my bow since those deer and havent had the opportunity to shoot a deer with this bow as of yet. i purchased a split limb pse with dual soft cams and shoot about 55 lbs. i am using easton aluminum xx75 2016 at the length of 26 1/2 inches (there is a 1 1/2" overdraw) with a release. i have been using rocket mini-blasters (75 grain). i use these broadheads because these are the ones i used on my older bow that i took the deer with in the past and do A LOT of damage with very short blood trails. Anyways, my question is, should i change to a lighter arrow and/or broad head? i do shoot on a regular basis and am VERY consistent when shooting out to 40 yards. if u think i should change this set up, what should i go to and why? i am very anxious for this years season (just purchased land last yr) and want to make sure that this set-up will be sufficient. thanks for any help or advice u give....

Personally, I'd go heavier before I'd go lighter. Using the mechanical heads with a light set up at 40 yards is iffy.

If you're shooting good now.. probably no reason to change. Just be sure to practice with the broadheads too.

    Good luck out there!

I shoot gold tip XT hunters 5575 (bows 55-75 lbs). This is one of their stiffest arrows. I am pulling 55 lbs at 30" with 100 grain broadhead/point. I'm guessing my IBO is 270 or so, and I'm fine with it, I don't think you would need to change either, if you can have a 3/4 inch grouping at 20, 30, and a 5/6 inch at 40 yards, don't change a thing.

Just re-reading what you wrote, I'd actually up to 100 grainbroadhead & points. I wouldn't change your arrows.

I would do the same, never hurt to throw a little weight up front...
