Don't you just love America? Freedom of speech:)

Maybe the issue isn't arming teachers as much as it is, we should never of dis-armed them.

Do we have the right to bare arms or not?

Ps. Some times it's better to keep threads separate. Keeps us thinking more and bickering less. IMO

That would be why I think arming teachers is a bad idea.

I was just riffing on how some folks were smearing teachers in past threads but now teachers should take on the role as trained bodyguards. Of course, no one mentionsdoubling their pay since they would be doing two jobs, teacher and bodyguard.

Yes, I see them all summer around here. Even children have the right to bare arms. Unless, of course, mommy or daddy tell them to put on a long sleeve shirt.

You would not have to pay me more if it meant saving my own life and the students. The teacher benefits carrying a concealed weapon just as much if not more than the students they are alledgedly protecting. It is a win-win situation. As far as smearing teachers, it is the teacher union that is the problem, which alot of teachers probably would not belong to if given the choice. Thats my opinion anyway.

Yes they do think. Not rationally but they do think. They want to go out with a bang and make an impact. Knowing they would be stopped before that was accomplished would deter them imo.

They never attack police stations. (Unless they have a specific agenda)

I believe armed persons, whether that is a guard or other more inconspicuous people in the school is a must. Something must be done, period. I watched the NRA's conference and he made several valid points that should ring home to every American. The fact that we protect things we deem important, such as presidents, MONEY, etc., with guns, but not kids, is appalling.

I hate the idea of having to have armed people in school as much as anyone. But its the society we live in and its not very friendly anymore.

As for the nuts who do this. They think. Not in the way we do, but they think. It's pretty common to hear about how intelligent they are, book smart that is, and how they usually carried high GPA's in school. Most of these individuals are wired differently and have disconnects with emotional issues, death, etc. Thats what makes this so difficult. I think every single one of us knows someone from school who we said was "different". Not one of us ever figured they'd hurt anyone and life went on for us and the strange kid we knew from school. Then one day, bam, one out of every million of those strange kids snaps. How do you prevent that? The only thing you can do is prevent that one person from killing many. He's still going to snap and he's going to try to hurt as many as he can, but if we have indivuals in place to keep him from hurting anyone, we need to do that.

We would have more than enough money to pay for armed guards in all schools if our government would quit wasting it on enforcing and prosecuting marijuana laws.

Here you go Afflicted. I know this didn't come from an email, so you probably won't believe it, but take a read.

I guess what I meant was WTH?

A thread on mass murder a week ago and your thinking nows the time to bring up legalizing dope?

From what I recall when I was a kid and still smoking pot. The reason most would get caught is because they were stoned.
Just thinking on a topic of a F'd up kid killing 27 little kids and their teachers is not a good time to bring up leagizing more people getting F'd up.

    But hey, that's me:)

You obviously miss the point by a country mile. If we stopped wasting money due to the war on drugs related to Pot we could have the money for protecting schools. Pot doesn't kill people like alcohol or most other drugs, there is no reason to keep fighting it. Instead use the resources to arm schools while the stoners sit at home eating the last of the twinkies they can get on ebay.
