I was going to write out something but I just stopped at this.... Everyone wants armed guards or police officers at every school. Just let that set in a bit. Our country is a seriously f-ed up place to live these days if our kids, our innocent kids are in so much danger that we are seriously considering arming our teachers or having armed guards in every school. Those precious little innocent kids need not die in vain if their deaths provide an immediate, serious wake up call to all Americans. We are living in such a wild, rat race of a world these days that we can barely settle down and help the kid/family next door and we are reaping the consequences.
I don't think we need police officers or guards at every school, but I think criminals would think twice if they knew that there is a chance that some of the teachers might be packing a gun.
Its time for the chicken! The ridiculousness of this whole mess has me shaking my head in disbelief. Hell in Chicago the students most likely would be armed better than the guard!
I would agree. I think teachers with training in the military or carrying permits should go to there townhall or states and demand that they be allowed to carry to protect their kids and themselves. You never here of anyone holding up a gun show or gun shop.
I am in a little bit of a cheesy, introspective mood today so this is my theme song for the day.......
Ive read that mentally ill people's brains dont function the same way "normal" humans do when certain worlds, such as rape, incest, abortion, murder are spoken. They are in no way normal.
You can't stop CRAZY! If a person wants to hurt people that person will find a way. Case in point Timothy McVeigh in Oklahoma. That being said if a teacher has a CCP then that teacher should be allowed to carry in schools. I should be allowed to carry in schools because I have a CCP. The law says we can't and that's not gonna change. AGAIN, the law abiding citizen isn't the danger.
They are sociopaths... not slobbering idiots. The thought process is obviously messed up... but it's going on. It's probably not a coincidence that they tend to pick the most vunerable targets. I see no reason to not allow a teacher who wants to carry, and is trained to not be allowed to do so while at work. The 'gun-free zone' nonsense sure isn't working.
I agree. During my first two weeks as an officer I encountered a guy who claimed he was going to jump in front of traffic and kill himself. So I observed him, got out of my vehicle and began speaking with him as nicely as I could across the road when all lanes of traffic backed up. I lost sight of him in all the chaos and all of the sudden he is running at me and lunges for my gun in a split second.....
I feel for you guys. You deal with our worst 40+ hours a week. Thanks for doing the job. I couldn't. Hope you pistle wipped him off camera
Exactly! We are trying to put in place, a rational response to an irrational problem. The degree of the mental incapacity within each of these assailants will prevent any balanced or rational responses ability to prevent or even lesson the degree of destruction caused by any one of these assailants. The inability to foresee the breaking point or trigger that sets these people off will prevent the best of plans from successfully preventing or lessoning the damage they cause. The civil liability that lawyers would place on any teacher that chose to carry a gun would prevent even the most qualified of them from doing so. These people are nuts. Period!
After that we can put them at all bus stops, playgrounds, parks, Wal-Marts, Targets, Wholesale Clubs, Rec centers, the beach, swimming pools, day cares, retirement homes, churches..............................................
It's just crazy for a country that suppose to have to many guns that these killings can go on and know body stops them using a gun. The gunman runs out of bullets before armed help shows up.
I think a lot of potential killings do get stopped by armed people but that doesn't make the news in a big way because it doesn't scare people. They don't imagine themselves being protected by a strange bystander that is armed but they easily imagine themselves being attacked by a strange bystander that is armed. Fear motivates people but, the problem with fear as motivator, IMO, is that the vast majority make bad decisions when afraid. Look at this thread: Everyone is afraid for their children so now it is a good idea to arm all of the teachers. A couple months ago in threads here teachers were a drain on our taxes, lousy at their job and generally incompetent. Now they are so competent they should be armed because everyone knows they would gladly put themselves in harms way to protect the children of the people that vilify them as overpaid union members that suck the life out of our country by asking for wages that are too high.
If you do some research the oregon mall shooting killer killed himself after he saw an individual with a glock 22 pointing at him. It ran on a local news station there, but nationally it was swept under the rug. He said he did not shoot at the perp because he feared hitting innocent people running for cover
I see what you are saying Bruce but the odds of someone dying in a school shooting are still around 1 in a 1,000,000. I don't think teachers are unmotivated or a drain on taxes(my sister is a teacher). She and many other teachers I've encountered are very passionate about their jobs. Knowing what they make compared to other careers in our area I think their pay is fair. I guess I'm not seeing how we are kind of stretching these topics to make them related considering how rare one of these shootings actually are.
