Well your herd's antlers :d . My partner saw 3 bucks in his front yard yesterday. One had only 1 antler and the other two still had both. I was set for some shed hunting but now might wait another week or two. Fooled me, I thought all were shed by now.
Most of ours still have antlers, but a few have fallen, so its worth the effort I guess... I plan shed hunt/scout until things really get going. I've got my cameras monitoring the situation.
Pretty mild winter here...A lot of bucks still dropped early though, but on the other hand, I am still seeing some little bucks with their head gear (as of this past weekend). I have pictures of bucks that dropped as early as Dec./January, and I also have pics of bucks with antlers in late Feb/early march
I think most the bucks on the property I hunt have shedded out. That past few days I have seen a great deal of deer still herded up, but none of them have been carrying. The fact I have found three "fresh" sheds this year, combined with the knowledge of none of the deer I have glassed have been carrying, tells me most, if not all, of the bucks in my area have dropped.
I would agree with those figures and say 75%-ish have dropped. I'm still seeing a buck holding his rack here and there, but not too many. Of course you'll always have those that hold their racks until April around here, but they are far and few between. Within the next week I'd bet 90%+ of the bucks have shed.
I concur with the 75ish number. Two weeks ago, there was a few half racks on the camera. This week were some nubs, but I imagine there are some still hanging on.
Went out glassing again tonight as the rains have everything just an absolute mess. Spotted nearly 25-30 deer again, only four of which weren't on properties I could hunt, every deer I spotted was a doe or a shed buck. Either I gotta use up some doe tags this year (and get some kills under my belt, which wouldn't be a bad idea anyways) or all the core bucks in my area have shed.
