We as in NC only have 33 well, might as well say 32 considering the time it is right now and I know it is getting close for everyone else. Are you ready and I mean mentally and everything for the season to open? We just hung the last stand for now until I can buy a couple more in late September early October anyways. My bow is set and I am hitting vitals on my 3-D target out to 70yd now even though my range is 30yd I feel 100% confident out to 40yd. I feel ready. I know I am mentally ready, my shooting is ready, my equipment is ready, my stands are all in good locations this year and the soy beans are coming in great all arounf my property. From here on out it is practice shooting and keeping a check on my equipment. Most of all I will stay out of the woods from here on out until opening day except one more time to set out more minerals and I have decided to use home made feeder troughs instead of hidey holes/kill plots. I just ran out of time and the ground is so hard here right now a good tiller can't hardly break the surface. So what about you guys?
Yep my 36th bow season and i was born ready!!!! I couldnt be shooting any better than right now, spot is picked and groomed but i still have to wait till Oct1..
Still need to make a switch in arrows and broadheads. Just waiting for the funds to do so. Other than that my camera is up. I have several trees picked out and lanes cut, all my camo is washed and vacuum sealed and I am shooting my own arrows at 40 yards. Now its just a waiting game till September 15th. It seems like every time I get something all squared away and I THINK I'm ready...I find something else that needs to get done.
Still need to plant my fall plots, dress up my arrows, make sure by broadheads are flying correctly and that should be about it. Won't be long now!
Just ordered some new arrows last night, so I still need to build my arrows and then make sure they and the bow are in tune and then I'll be ready to go.
I need to hang another stand, trim up a few lanes and get a rangefinder. I'm still playing with broadheads also, have some meat seekers and was in the shop and the owner handed me some grizztricks to play with.
Stands are all hung and lanes are cut. Public land scouting is done for the most part. Bow is ready, broadheads are tuned. Just got my buck fever synthetics from bowhunting.com in the mail and this weekend I will be making all my mock scraps and freshening up some old ones. The major rush right now is getting all my gear washed and descented for my bear hunt, which I leave for in 9 days. Excited would be an understatement for that
Not even close to being ready. Leave for vacation in week and half then come back and Early Goose AND TEAL season trip over Labor day weekend. Then will be putting on final preperations on Hunting. Will visit opening day setup before Sept. 5 then leave alone till opening day on Sept. 24. Just got access today to another 100 acres so will be concentrating all my time there after opening day stand is ready.
I should also mention there is an area on some public land I still want to scout out too. Looks pretty good on the topo, but want to see it in person.
Could I hop in the woods this evening & be capable of killing a deer? Yep. Will I "prepare" a few more minor things before my actual season starts? Yep. Once you've been doing this so long, it doesn't take very much to be ready.
Finished fine tuning and sighting in my bow last Sunday. Stands have been ready since May/early June. Ordered 1/2 dozen more arrows that will need to be made up and then matched with a mean 125 grain Magnus Stinger. Then will need to resharpen those heads. Clothes are washed and in a XL zip lock bag with baking soda. Gear is pretty much assembled.
I just have to score some good drugs for the 26.5 hour flight and I'll be ready for Australia in 3 weeks. I may kill a deer before I leave too but I'm always ready for that!
im gettin my hit list together, refilling the feeders every week and still got to get fall plots in and i should be good to get my monster
UGGGHHHHh... and yet again the good ole state of NY will be last on the list for bowhunters to hit the woods in mid October.
Got a good 80 degree weather day here in AR yesterday. I think I got a whiff of fall on the way. 53 days to go. Just counting them down. All thats left to do is shoot and check cams.
That is when the good sales are anyway. I need a new string, but I'll just wait until the day before when I gets my new erras.
