I got home from work today & noticed 2 BIG holes in the side of my "shooter buck" target. I was trying to figure out what could have caused them when a woodpecker landed on the target & proceeded to start pecking a third hole. Have any of you guys seen this before & if so do you have any ideas on how to get rid of him other than shooting him? I was gonna grab my shotgun (I live in the country) & dust him but didn't want to cause any additional damage to my target. Any help would be appreciated.

Take the target inside after you shoot, it will last longer.... .22 or bb gun will take care of the bird problem

I believe it's illegal to kill them without a permit. From what I've read there are good results from "scare" tactics. So run at him like a crazy person, or get an Owl/Hawk decoy and put it on top of the deer. Could always take it inside as well.

...and I'm the unethical one for taking risky shots while others recommend breaking the law :busted:

EDIT: I see no comments on mine... I think I made my case that I'm no idiot and no unethical hunter.

My friend had one peck out his trail camera lens. It was a pretty expensive cuddy too.

Learn how to speak his language then ask him nicely to stop.
