I chose anywhere i want but i keep them in the man cave or the bedroom. Me and my wife have an agreement that if i kill something crazy huge it can go in the living room.
She doesn't really care. She sort of rolls her eyes, but the only one I had shoulder mounted sits right next to our fireplace in the family room. We don't really have a ton of room for others, but in my next house there will be a finished or partially finished man cave for them all to go in. She really wants me to get an elk, caribou, or moose to hang in our next house since most likely it will have a great room. She's not half bad:D
As many as I want and wherever I want. The walls are covered well already but there's always room for more.
My stepfather and I have the basement den for mounts, rugs, and whatnot. My girlfriend I will be moving in with would prefer they stay at my parents house. Shes older and its her townhouse so I dont have much leverage.
I've only got one so far and it's in the living room. My wife knows enough to pick her battles with me and saves them for more important things.
I only have one mount, and its in the living room, on one side of the fireplace. My wife keeps asking me when I am going to shoot one to put on the other side....
My wife doesn't like the my shoulder mounts, so they go in the office. But see loves the euro mounts and we put them and sheds all over the living room. She has a eclectic decorating style, so they fit in well.
My dead animals used to be in my office until kid #2 came. The shoulder buck mount and fish actually stayed there in my son's room since it is decorated woodland/pond theme. Now the rest are scattered around the house. Bedroom, living room, etc. so I suppose my wife doesn't mind them TOO much...
Mine get hung in the office...hopefully I'll run out of room in there fast! Had a discussion with my wife the other day and she informs me that I better not shoot another big deer this year because then we'll have to spend money on the mount were as she wants to spend money to redecorate the house...I chuckled and said we'll see what the season brings "deer!" she's a good sport about it all even if its not "her thing"
I do what I want but luckily my wife likes the taxidermy and is working on getting some mounts of her own! It just makes things easier that way.
Wow, I guess I am fortunate I married a country girl. I was up in the air about having the 9 pointer I shot last year mounted, so I caped it and waited until she got home from work so she could see it. She said "He deserves to be on the wall just as much as the other 9 pointer", so that ended that. Off to my taxidermy friend I went with him! I am spoiled by a generous and understanding woman. She even buys me guns! (I buy her guns too........so that counts for something, right?)
