Christine posted the test back on page two, I quoted it above.
I have used the Coleman Extreme, I have two of them currently and I have used several Igloo coolers. I use them to carry in the bed of my work truck for cold drinks while on site of construction or around the farms. I have not used a Yeti, an Engel or an IRP. Of course I have not used all of them, that's why I based my part of the discussion around the video posted. Besides even if I had personal experience with all of them it wouldn't be in video format and it's hard to argue with a full out test in a video without just claiming it was rigged out of some bias. Personal speculation has no part in anything I've stated as I said, my opinions have all been formed around the test video posted. Money had no impact on me either, if I wanted a high end cooler I wouldn't give a rats *ss about the cost. However I do not ever wish to throw out top dollar for a product that has about the same performance as a low end cooler from Wally World...as the test showed was the case with the Yeti.

If I had a chance to put them all to the test, I would agree with you if the test came to a different conclusion apart from the one in the video and actually proved the Yeti to perform better than the cheapo coolers...otherwise we would have to just agree to disagree. :)

I just looked at prices on Amazon, I appreciate the yeti may be seriously tough but the Coleman extreme 100qt is like $75 and the yeti 105 quart is like $479. For $400 difference I can be careful with the coleman or build a 1/4" steel plate box for it to keep it safe. Especially if one keeps ice about as long as the other as the test indicated. The OP asked if they were over priced...to me that's a perfect example of being over priced. The Engel is about $100 cheaper than the Yeti and tested better so based on that would be a better value for the money. The IRP (Grizzly?) is roughly in the same price range as the Yeti and performed the best.

I agree with the premise that any of these bomb proof coolers are basically equivalent so I'd go with cheapest price available. I did (orca was cheapest for me).

I just left the prairie of Wyoming after 7 days of camping and hunting. Had a big igloo marine cooler side by side with the orca. Orca got two bags of ice and the igloo had 3. Igloo was completely melted by day 3, orca still has remnants of ice and frigid water. Not scientific by any means but pretty typical findings of those who own both.

I just tired of busted latches and lids, cracks down the side, etc with the igloo type coolers. I've bought 4 over the past decade and that much money would have bought me a second orca. As with all my outdoor gear, I subscribe to buy once cry once.
