I still use the cooler my dad used from before I was born. I'm a year shy of 30 so if a regular cooler can still work and last that long, a Yeti couldn't possibly be worth it.

i dont think it is worth what they are asking. and a good cooler from coleman or other brands will keep ice for 2 days if kept in the shade.

I bought one for this reason when they came out. Southern OK gets HOT! I love the Yeti! May not be worth it to some people but to some it is. That Yeti is better at keeping ice longer than any of my Wally World coolers.

As long as you have Costas, Sperrys, your Jackson Kayak, and Columbia PFG shirt, you need the Yeti to fit in.

Nah, I got a pair of Maui Jims after I lost my last pair of Costas. They didn't hold up nearly as well. I got another pair of Costas.

Also what about doing an ice block in the cooler instead of a bag of ice?

I take an annual spring trip to the Keys and we are in the backcountry on skiffs for 3-4 days at a time. We tried it w/ normal "extreme" coolers and by day #2 your beer is 'cool' and you got no ice for clinkys.

I went w/ the Engel 65. It was like 20% less $ than the Yeti, but from the youtube review posted above, it holds ice longer. HOWEVER IT DOES NOT SAY "YETI" ON IT!!!! It says "Engel".

With that cooler, filled w/ ice and a block of dry ice, we had zero ice melt for 2 days. We still had plenty of ice on day #5.

So, depending on seriously how long you might find yourself away from supplies, a quality/expensive cooler might be worth it. You can't just run the 7-11 and grab another bag of ice if you're in the backcountry.

So, how many of you that say a Yeti isn't worth it actually have one or used one?

How can you form an opinion about a product if you've never used it?

I personally don't have one, but a good buddy does and he loves it.

I have not. It's not worth it to me, but I don't camp or hunt away from home enough to need a $100 cooler, let alone a Yeti. The video that Christine posted showed that there are better coolers on the market. I will admit, they do a great job of marketing themselves. They are a household name for something that few seem to own. :)

    Thats what I was thinking.

I always had good luck with the steel coolers but they're getting up there in price now.

I would say it would depend on what you're using it for.

If you're not able to get ice for days and it actually works and you can afford it, then I think it might be.

    Nice video Christine.

I have the Coleman, sorta glad I do now. If I was buying a high end one, that IRP would get serious attention.

Siman, you consider that a pickup?

I've heard nothing but good things about the Yeti's from several friends, but I just can't bring myself to buy one. I got a Coleman Xtreme 70 quart cooler for about $60. It won't hold ice for a week long, but it does well for about 3 days at a time.

I installed a coleman cooler with a "5 day" claim on it for my livewell. I wish I could have afforded a Yeti. I put 2 bags of ice in it and it was gone in 3 hours. Now, I am not saying Yetis are worth the money, thats up to you to decide. But I will say, my boss had one at one of my last jobs, and in the middle of summer, it would hold ice for 4-5 days, in 90+ degree weather. I loved the thing. And you really could beat up on the thing and it would keep going. He got into a lot of deep water for spending $800 for 2 coolers on the company card, but the guys who bought $50 ones had to but at least 4 because they kept breaking them, and a few bags of ice each day, not every 4 days. So I can say they are pretty sweet coolers.

There are situations where they are worth the money. Deep Sea Excursions being one of them. No stopping at the 7/11 for more ice when you are 100 miles from shore. Same with multi day river trips and backcountry camping.

I personally have no need for one but can easily see where they are worth their weight in gold for certain folks.
