That comment was made by a person using the handle SackBalls, seems like a pretty intelligent being.

So your parents didn't work with you at home? Just playing catch or pitching you balls? It's up to the coach to put the team together, show skills, work with the kids on getting better and learning how to play the game, but there's not enough practice time to get all that done and work on basic skills like catching, field, or hitting individually for long enough to actually get them better at it.

Nope, they ran their own business and did 70+hours. I dont think it's important that they spend time playing catch, but I wouldn't doubt that it wouldn't have hurt. Eventually I joined the swim team that took up all of my time.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, that's for sure. However I disagree that a baby born to low class/low IQ family is doomed dumb. I'm not talking about an exception here or there either, more the norm. I think most everyone being born (aside from physical/mental problems) has equal chance of being who and what you want. Genetically speaking I just think that's the way it is. Are there low IQ sperms in low income families? The problem is you live whats around you. The parenting is where it matters. What about low income kid being adopted to a higher class family at a very young age? They turn out fine more than not.

    Never said that

    Well that's just not true

This is true. We are products of our environment. Thus why most of us do not leave environments that we were raised or familiar with.

An uneducated child with above average IQ, will have no more opportunity for success than a educated child with average IQ.
The greatest of ball players in the world would not exist or excel with out balls, nor scholars with out books.

Some of these less fortunate kids with high IQ's may find alternate ways to get ahead but the sad reality is there is plenty of talent going to waste because of little means to expand upon it.

Actually that just got me thinking, there are some pretty awesome paintings on the sides of trains, we've all seen them - some of these people have genuine talent, I doubt they are the same artists who are graduates of the Art Institute.

The means are there for the willing.

Government grants for school, even free education for many.

Service is an option for anyone.

The one exception are the kids born in areas like inner city chicago where going to school might mean getting shot. But there are many that make it out of there.

I give kudos to my wife for doing everything she did to get out of a very bad economic situation.

Heck, its harder for kids like my daughter from the middle class.

I refuse to pay fir ny children's education. It's their responsibility, not mine.

Because of my wife and my income, she did not qualify for any government assistance and could nit get a loan fir the full amount of college. My wife had to rake out a loan for her to pay back just to get enough money. This is a child that has a small dance scholarship and a 3.9 gpa.

She did get a huge sum back on her taxes

I'd like to think I'm part of the solution. As a college student I was we'll on my way to graduation when my other interest caused the birth of my first daughter. I married the mother, although things are really bad at the moment, but we have a second daughter together which we are raising them both to be educated productive citizens and auburn fans( like God intended). Both my wife and I are college graduates and have tossed the idea of anothe child if we can get on the same page.

10% Genetics 90% Will. I strongly believe in that in everything including sports. You can be the smartest person in the world, but with no motivation, you wont make much of yourself.
