My turkey season finally starts next Wednesday and goes through the following Sunday. Looks like the weather is going to be nice so that is a plus.

Are turkeys still strutting and responding to calls? I am thinking about just trying to hunt food sources and roosting spots and hope for the best. The birds I am hunting actually don't have much pressure so that should help a little bit.

4 buddies just made the trip to SD, driving back as we speak....They killed 8 toms in 2 days and said the birds were still hammering.

I sure hope they keep it up out west because it looks like I am heading back to Kansas next week for a redemption trip to try and fill my two unused tags....

Yeah my lottery pick was the last season so that kind of sucks. But at least I got one. We only get a 5 day period here in Wisconsin.

Hell, I click on my own posts to see my avatar. :lmao:

Its hit or miss around here. I killed a nice 10" gobbler last saturday on gamelands but the day before was lame. I've got 7 more days to hunt for my second of the season, hopefully they're still in the mood.

not so much in VA... Last day is tomorrow, I am so freaking bummed. this was my first year turkey hunting, I would give up my 5 deer tags for turkey.

Freaking Crack Cocaine has to be less addictive.

Called in 4 birds this year, none for me... got one for a Wounded Warrior - Marine Sergeant who has been in Bethesda since 2004. I would give up every bird for me to do that again.

I will kill a bird tomorrow!

Thanks guys. This gives me hope. I think I will try some decoys and aggressive calling next week.

Indeed they are! Had one gobbling like crazy this morning, but we left the decoys at another spot because we had to move to a new spot :bash:

    Got that at least...

My son and I went out today, one VERY distant gobble and nothing else.

    Pre-Deer Season now.

I saw a turkey strutting on my way to work this morning. Good sign.
Too bad it appears I won't be able to hunt now due to some stuff going on at home.
