Love this. I learned to trap at 12 years old and really enjoy it. Back then, I was getting up to $55 for ONE raccoon. The good old days! I have not trapped much for quite a few years buy my youngest son is interested so we are going to hit it hard this year. In fact, I just ordered a dozen 280's this week. I am just as excited about that as I am bowhunting. We can now trap bobcats and otters also. We will make sets for 'coon, otter, bobcat, coyote, mink, fox, and muskrats. Your photo brings back a lot of great memories. Good luck to you!

Probably just gonna fire this silly thread up a bit more but what the hell.
I don't have a bit of a problem killing yotes and just letting them lay where they died. Same with coon. The coon in my area need thinned WAYYY down and as far as I'm concerned the yotes could just be exterminated completely. Another predator that I'd love to be able to kill are the hawks. Damn redtails are thicker than flies around here and just dessimate the rabbits, pheasants and such. To bad people in power see them the way they do. No reason certain species of hawks can't be fair game.

Trapping is something that I just won't do. Conabears or other quick kill traps I would be OK with but legholds I just don't have the heart for. Makes me wanna cry.. (HaHa just kidding)
I don't have any problems with guys that do. Hell I even help a buddy of mine clean his traps up over some beers every year. I just don't help him run them.

Good luck out there! Other than taking out the farm pests, I haven't set any traps since moving down to central IL. It's been bugging me tho'. I'm going to go to the Illinois State Trapper's convention on Oct 6th to visit with old friends and buy some of those new dog-proof 'coon traps (the Coon Daggers). I have a feeling going to the convention may cause a serious flare-up in my trapping bug. But I'm not sure I'm quite ready to commit the prius to a trapping vehicle yet. ;)
