'Smart' gun control? Dem bill would require all new guns be 'personalized' | Fox News

I mean seriously, a gun that can only be operated by it's owner. So lets say this law gets passed, which it won't, but hypothetically. Basically this would mean that you could not teach someone how to use a gun unless that person owned it. Say goodbye to taking your kids hunting, unless you fork out a grand or more for a gun before they even fire a shot.

Not to mention the fact that criminals would have this hacked in the matter of a couple days. So in the end, the only person getting denied anything would be the people who had to pay twice as much for a gun that has this technology. Plus, it's not like the millions of guns that are out there would just disappear, their value would just skyrocket.

I really believe we have some complete morons making decisions for this country

Criminals would just use the existing 'non-personalized' technology that has existed for decades/centuries. And (gasp) continue to break the laws...

All the people running the country only care about perception and reelection. If they are perceived to have made a difference in the eyes of some people, then they have won half the battle. ie: Obama care.

My guess is that "we" didn't. It was all the people on welfare and that don't have health insurance that thought it was going to be free. There are sadly a lot of those voters in this country. It's just sad how little they understand basic finance to realize that system will eventually crumble.

If you really think this would prevent you from taking your kid hunting, then obviously you didn't read about the actual technology and instead you relied on the sensationalization of the story by Feaux "News".

What about all the new jobs this will create in the gun manufacturing business? I'm betting the owner of Kodiak Arms didn't vote for the current President.

People on welfare have medicare, they already get "free" coverage.

At the rate we are going the system will crumble, because of healthcare cost, all obama did was speed the process up.

As for smart guns, I would have to ability to program more than one shooter. So my entire family would be able to shoot the weapon. There are to many variables that could cause the gun not to fire, dirty on hand, wearing gloves or it just plain malfunctions.

I think most people lose sight of the bolded portion. Great point. I think the main problem is we as a society don't value our health enough. We don't bat an eye at paying 200k for a house, 40-50k for a new loaded vehicle, etc... But we scoff at paying a few thousand a year for our healthcare. We need to heavily penalize those not taking preventative measures when it comes to their healthcare to create incentives to actually keep yourself healthy. We use our healthcare as a repair shop. Never go in until something breaks then look to correct it or fix it. If we put more emphasis on our health BEFORE we get sick, the costs associated with those who actually get sick would be pennies on the dollar to our current model. That requires people to actually care about their health though, and it seems in large part we simply don't...

The technology is fine, it's mandating the technology by the government that's the problem. If you have to use a thumbprint to activate the gun to make it fire, than how could someone else fire it?

Not exactly sure how a question about smart guns and dumb congressmen turned into a healthcare debate :hijacked:

It's another way to hurt the gun industry. They use safety as an execuse and make mandatory expensive changes to the guns. They can control by squeezing them.

Could you imagine what this would do to the price of guns? Just like with their "Bullet serialization" crap. Over-priced would be un-affordable. This is bull.
