Happy Thanksgiving to all my colleges in the U.S.....regardless if the Canadian gov't and media are trying to poison our minds about you all. I don't feel that way.
I have a theory about skewed sexes in the deer herd. Does the fact that soy raises estrogen levels contribute to the buck to doe ratios being out of whack in many areas. I realize there are other factors involved such as only shooting bucks, or not letting them grow to full potential, etc .
Just a theory and wondered if anyone else had the same theory ?

IMO Your minds aren't being poisoned, there's some truth in what you're being told.

I believe buck to doe ratios have various contributing factors. I hunted Alberta, where the buck to doe ratio is very close, hence why rattling works so well. Buck to doe ratio is very region specific.

True, however. The largest crops produced in western Canada are wheat and canola. The area I live in is mostly corn and soybeans which makes me think the more soybeans available contribute to a higher estrogen level in the herd.

You're right about this. Sometimes wheat and canola fields as far as the eye can see. I was in Stony Plain hunting the Edmonton Bow Zone. Have you ever hunted the Zone?

I'm in a heavy AG area too and I think the bucks / does are pretty much born at 50/50 ratio.
Testosterone gets a lot of the bucks killed young and that explains the lopsided ratio. There are lots of places that it is rare to find a 3-1/2 year old buck deer. Not because they weren't born, because they died young to hunters, automobiles, fighting, or any number of things.
