I would say you would be correct, assuming that there is no ban. But, if there is a ban, then I would say the prices will stay inflated. I would say that the only items that would really stay inflated would be the lower receiver, and the mags. Uppers and, barrels, parts kits, etc. should still be able to be produced and sold.
In my opinion it's as settled as much as its goin to be for awhile. The people who wanted to spend outrageous amounts already have, now its the every day man. Now is just wait and see
I know I overpaid on my lower, nearly the same thing on their now for like $399 or something. Cheaper but still overpriced. I'm not upset about it, I'm not looking at an investment in monetary value as I am an investment in fun. The part that concerns me now, is Obama has already stated he probably doesn't have the votes in congress for his full fledged ban. He can't ban the guns with executive orders, that has to go through congress. By he has said that he can use it to ban certain things on "assault weapons" think he even called magazines "magazine clips", he got your email Christine, but still didn't get "it " I'm just wondering how much other than the lower receiver he could try to ban that would make it impossible to buy or even finish building a complete ar or other semi-auto rifle. Seeing how prices are right now, I would have been better served biting the bullet and getting a complete rifle. But if I can eventually get the complete upper for the $400 or so they were going for Id still be only in it for 900'ish.
I am not talking about guys who decided to get one just in case... I am taking about some dudes buying / ordering 15 to 20 stripped lowers, 100 pmags, 10,000-15,000 rounds of ammo in addition to the stash they already had...
Yeah, that's definitely overkill. I bet when Obama said that yesterday they started scrambling to get them back on the market. If NY gets their agenda passed it could set the stage, there would be such a flood of magazines on the market they'd probably be $5 for people in states that didn't ban them. From the article posted in he other thread for NY Magazines with a capacity of more than 10 rounds and manufactured before 1994, which are currently legal, would have to be turned over to authorities or sold out of state within one year. If a magazine has a capacity between eight and 10, it would have to be retrofitted to only hold seven rounds.
All I'm wondering what are gonna be my chances of finishing my gun ( need a complete upper) without over paying? And maybe get a few ( not 50) thirty round mags? In the next couple months?
They were PMAGs. just marked up 5.00 more dollars a mag. I also learned that you can't sell them on ebay anymore. Not sure if you ever could or if they recently changed that.
I'm in the same boat. Can't file taxes until 1/30 this year because our government and the fiscal cliff bullcrap. Seems as if prices go up $100-300 every week on he uppers. Gun shops keep posting them on heir getting the exploited prices rather than sell them in their shops. Magazines are still out there, I've yet to receive any of the ones I've purchased though. Have 10 USGI 30's from one place 5 Pmag 30's from another and 2 20 round pmags from another that was supposed to be in stock at the time but the money went back into my account from a pending status. Had 300 rounds of back ordered .223 canceled from Cabelas. Hind sight I should have snagged an upper first, as it seems everyone has the lower now and need an upper.
Just got my mags in. They seem like they will work fine. Haven't ran anything through them yet though. I actually like the 20's better than the 30's. Still need to find my a scope and mounts, but that is proving harder than I thought. Just way too many choices out there.
Did you order any of these by chance? I ordered two with around 70 left, I chose the cancel if backordered option. It went through and my card was debited but this morning the funds went back in as if it was a temporary hold or canceled. Still says order received, I'm sure they're backed up, but wondering if they were indeed in stock at the time or if it was a glitch.
I didn't... Just happened to be looking for a few other parts (especially BCG's) and happened to come across them.... I've got way to many mags on order the way it is... I did a spreadsheet this weekend of all the orders I have outstanding - let's just say if all my orders come through, I'll have more than enough - ha ha...
You finding any BCG's? I haven't looked yet, was going to wait for a "complete" complete upper but an old coworker just text me this afternoon and said one of his buddies down in 'bama has a 5.56 upper minus BCG and charging handle for sale. Waiting to hear what kind of price he wants for it, doubt I'll like it but never know until I hear it.
They are by far the hardest part to locate - for me at least.... I've been able to find pretty much anything if I look hard enough - lowers, lpks, mags, uppers (without BCG's), etc. Most items at marginal markup but many not much over retail... But the BCG's are nearly impossible to find. A website will get some in and selling out in 5-10 minutes.... Stuff that was going for $125 6 weeks ago, is 350-400 on the open market.... I've got several on back order with different web sites but no ETA on anything yet.... If you can, I would try hard to buy an upper with the BCG...
That's my plan, but it may be a year down the road now. After NY today and Obama priming up for the morning speech, prices are going to jump again. when I bought my lower the uppers were on gunbroker at around $600 buy it now prices. Watching the auctions now and they're going for about $1100 while still a few buy it nows in the 900 range. Everyone tries to tag their listing with so many search terms it's hard to know exactly what they're selling.
Any of you guys have the .22LR upper for swapping out? I don't know what they go for normally but can't see paying the $800 asking price they are going at now. Would you buy an upper to use for plinking or just buy an entire gun? Definitely not looking at buying right now, curious whether the swap out is worthwhile or not. .22 ammo is a heck of a lot cheaper than .223
Heck I would just buy a whole seperate AR style 22. Heck scheels had quite a few of them when I was in there last week. Then I can leave my .223 ar alone
Just an update in case anyone else ordered these, my order has changed from received to in progress so looks like they did actually have them in stock.
So apparently a small store here in central illinois has all sorts of ammo. I am driving the 45 minutes to check it out after work. Hoping to score some decent deals on handgun and 223.
