Anyone know what this is? Was in the box with cable lock, paperwork etc. Can't find it mentioned anywhere. Looks like it has a purpose. Doesn't have a bullet button, thought maybe for the magazine or for pushing the pins to separate lower and upper?

Looks like a thing that you stick in the action to suck up moisture while storing but I'm a little tipsy so I could be wrong.

It looks to me like a chamber safety plug! See if it fits in the chamber opening with the longer round side in barrel.

Mecdoc is right. It's a chamber flag.

So lets say I was going to buy a stripped lower soon, what brands should I be looking for? I want something quality, but I don't need something that is ridiculously expensive. I also definitely don't want to pay for the panic pricing. I only want an AR for hunting, so I will be gearing everything towards accuracy. What say ye?

I found this over on Illinoiscarry.com, might help determine. Not sure how accurate it is as it was posted back in '08. A lot of newer names in the market as well......

It turns out that there are only a few companies actually making the lowers, and they are just stamping other company's names on them under a waiver from the BATFE. Here is a list I ran across elsewhere.

I just bought a complete poly lower from a place in Hays Kansas online for $169. Some people dont like poly but I did read alot of reviews on the one I bought and they were very positive. I am gearing my AR for hunting also and I am leaning towards a 6x45 round so I can let my nephew and my kids hunt deer with it. I have a zeiss 3x9x40 scope for it as well. I have read that with that cartridge I wont need a barrel any longer than 16 for maximizing performance.
