What do you suggest? Couple buddies of mine just bought the DPMS oracle for like 600 bucks. Is that a good option or sound I save my money and by something a little pricier? And input and pics would be awesome.

My opinion is do some research and build your own. You'll save money and get better parts. The lower isn't as important as the upper.

I'd go with a palmetto arms stripped lower with a stainless rock river upper. Then a lower kit from DPMS.

First off this is not the discussion I thought it was gonna be when I clicked on it ha. I did what u are tailking about earlier this year. Ultimately I decided to build my own after looking around and seeing that it you do buy a assembled gun and decide to add things on or change your gonna spend more or same jus building one. I looked a lot on YouTube, I know not most reliable, but found a lot of helpful videos on building an ar and how to do it. As others have said the lower is not really a big concern as long as u get a well made product. The big item would be barrel and bolt carrier group. If I was gonna go with building one or even buying one I'd be getting on it tho with the recent election and everything that's been goin on a lot of dealer and places to buy parts are getting swamped and have limited supply and are backordered awhile. Building one isn't as hard as it seems granted I was in military so had some knowledge of the weapon but never had one completely tore apart. If your needing a parts list or what to get pm me and I can give you the list I had and places to get it. Would here but this is getting kinda long and probably boring as is.

For the $$ IMO the Stag Model 3 is the best bet. Get the $99 plus package and you'll have an awesome gun. I have one and believe me it's awesome. Check it out. If you plan on using an Eotech or an aimpoint: the railed gas block is perfect. You won't have the front sight gas block in the way. And you can mount a flip up BUIS on the gas block. If you can afford it Noveske or Colt would be better and if you can really afford it go preban.

Call Brownells and have them send you an AR-15 catalog. Alot of good stuff in there. AR-s are like legos there is a lot of cool stuff for them.

I highly recommend rock river arms, but be prepared for a long wait if you order from the factory.

How much $$$ do you want to spend and what do you want to use it for? I can put a parts list together for you.

I would NEVER buy another AR15 pre-built again. I've built 6 of them now between myself and friends and it's really easy to do. I might consider buying the upper built only because you need a couple of specialty tools to assemble that, but even then you simply need an armorer's wrench ($40), action block ($40), a strap wrench ($15), and a good vise. You could easily build the entire gun with no prior experience in less than an hour, once you know what you are doing you could build one in 15 minutes. You end up with all of the exact components you want and spend the same amount of $$ or less, plus you will always know how to work on the gun then.

Bravo has killer stuff, Spike's tactical also has some of the best lowers on the market.

Colt LE6920...love mine. But if I did it again I'd build one specifically for predator hunting. It deff comes in handy night calling when you scan and see 8 eyes running your way.

Probably looking to spend around 800 total. I'm gonna try buying parts over a period of time so I don't break the bank all at once. The gun is gonna mostly be used for coyotes and groundhogs, but most shots will be between 50-200 yards. Would like a lighter gun and was thinking of mounting a 1.5-6 power scope on it. As of right now looking at the medium sized A4 rock river arms upper.

I've never owned an AR-15 but am considering buying one.

Colt is an expensive name only, there are many options out there that are as good or better without paying for that pony. RRA, Windham weapons, and stag arms are all good companies.

I got a Rock River Arms LAR-15 NM A4 and it shoots 1/2 inch groups all the time. If you want to check out a lot of different models in person go to Camp Perry during the National Shooting Matches and all of the vendors are there with their products on display and they will cut you a good deal. It was worth the 7 hour drive for me.
