    Preference Point Extras

Regardless of what you apply for to try and draw a tag, IF you do NOT draw, you will be given ONE preference point. You may then use this preference point for whichever you choose to apply for the following year.

EX. I try to draw a muzzleloader tag this year. I do NOT get a tag. I will then be awarded ONE preference point instead. Next year I will be able to use that preference point to increase my chances of drawing a tag.

NOTE. Most firearms tags you will need ONE preference point BEFORE you try to draw your tag. Archery tags you will most likely need TWO preference points before applying to draw a tag.

Long story short...put in for a preference point if you ever want to hunt IOWA. They do NOT expire until you use them.

    Happy Hunting!

According to DNR, you usually need 2 preference points before applying for zone 5, but can usually get drawn for zone 4 every other year.

    Only 3 Days Left...

...to get your nonresident Iowa preference point or enter Iowa Draw. This is everyone's last chance to get this taken care of if you ever want to make a trip to Iowa in search of a Trophy Whitetail. It's well worth the two minute phone call.

    All the Best,
    Mike
