I actually start every practice with about 10 arrows from 80 yards. I will spend more time practicing long shots and I do this on purpose. I literally only take my last 5-10 arrows at 30 yards.

My reasoning is that when you train your eye to look at that peep at 80 yards. And you shoot hundreds and hundreds of arrows at that distance. When you walk up to 30 you feel like your shooting point blank. For me its just a psychological training ad.

I have taken deer at extremely long ranges before with a bow and rifle. Hunting where I do this is something we need to be prepared for as its very common. Taking a long shot is not only a matter of skill, but the circumstance of that moment, ie deers behaviour etc. I don't talk too much online about the long shots as some just don't understand and immediately get all bent out of shape about it. To each their own is what I always say. If someone is only comfortable shooting at 40 yards then they should never shoot further. That's being a smart ethical hunter.

Good to see you atlasman. Glad we have a full team.

I think I like the first logo better too. The second one looked better in my mind until I actually made it haha. Then I was so-so about it. But like I said they were just ideas. I can make changes or if somebody makes one completely different I am cool with it. Just trying to help.

Since most seem to like the first one better, I made it avatar sized and uploaded it. I also made two different banners because I am bored lol. Last year some guys seemed to like the banner in their signature opposed to the avatar, some liked the avatar better, some both.

Wait until the season comes. I usually do 8 paragraph write ups of each night lol.

This time of year I try to avoid this site. It only makes the wait more agonizing lol

Either way this Wednesday black bear opens. Expect a photo next weekend. If not, it will be a long write up on why not. Hahahah

Check cameras today and had several smaller bucks on cam this guy is about biggest but thats how it always is this time of year. I have several does so they always seem to bring the big boys around come November. Don't mind the date these were taken a few days ago the camera is 3 years old and starting to act up. Just thought I would share with you guys.

Got another good buck on camera. It is on a brand new farm so seeing a good buck like this is reassurance we are in the right spot. [IMG]

    Nice buck hawk!

I promised some Ohio bucks here they are....

I wish I had more pictures of this guy but this is it. That picture was taken at the end of May! I believe that he is going to be a giant.

    His right side looks good!

I don't think that this picture does this buck justice. He is a big 8

Here is a neat looking 7 pointer

These next four pictures are of my #1 hitlist buck. He might not score as high as that 8 pointer or the the split brow buck from May but me and my best friend have history with this deer and have been seeing him since he was 2 1/2 years old. He is 5 1/2 this year.

My brother in law and I took off from work early. We drove 3 hours and were in our stands. Black bear opens up today. Both are bait barrels were abused pretty hard. We haven't been here since we set them up so these bears should not suspect anything. Hopefully I have some pictures in a couple hours.

Ahhhhh it's nice to be sitting in a tree again. It's hot as hell but oh well. Up here in Canada our nights have already been getting close to freezing. So even though we're having some warm weather this week. The bugs are almost nothing as the cold nights have killed them. So it's a nice night to be in a stand.
