Nice buck man. Yep, my team came in 3rd. I contributed both a doe and buck. My buck was nothing huge but I was happy with it. We have some nice ones on cam in OH this year so I am excited about hunting them.
Nice job coop. I normally take a doe and buck each year. Last year I had a accident right before season so it really limited my preseason set up, and even my season in terms of where and how I can hunt. I sat a lot of days because I was off from work. But at the end of the day when your sitting somewhere that has low deer movement only because you can't physically get to other stands you probably won't see much. But I didn't care I was happy to be in the woods. This year I'm pumped and ready to go. Sitting on 4 tags. Buck and die for each property as there in different zones and require separate tags. The one farm i have permission on is a doe farm. I predict a doe down opening week. But that farm isn't showing any sign of nice bucks. Although my land is a monster buck haven. I just can't seem to plug one of these guys.
Thanks for checking it out! I appreciate it. I don't have any of my new season on my website. I think it's a lot better than the first season. I really like Duke's jerky. Not sure what flavor you had, but it's normally really good. The black pepper is my least favorite....too dry for me. They dropped me this year...but I still eat it. Just not on camera. lol
I'm going to suggest Whisker Biscuits & Gravy as our team name because I use a whisker biscuit & because I love biscuits & gravy.
I'll give you a full profile myself..... I'm Derek Dirnberger. I started a website called HUNTERSlink.com in 2010 just kind of as a fun thing to do. I also started videoing my hunts seriously in 2011, putting them on YouTube and my website. In 2014, I aired my show, The Break, on the Hunt Channel. I'm in season 2 on the Hunt Channel now and I also just started airing on my regional FOX network this past Saturday. I've got about 20 guys videoing for me in MO, OH, IL, IN, KY, KS, AR and LA, and I'm looking to grow into their regional markets. I'm also working on another show that is targeted for 2017 on the Sportsmans Channel (still up in the air at this point, but the ball is rolling). I live on a 140 acre family farm and hunt quite bit right behind my house. I also hunt in southern IL regularly and I plan to hunt OH, KY and/or IN this year...definitely one, but hopefully all. I've been in the contest for 4 years. I didn't put up a single point in 2013 or 2014. In both of those years, I didn't kill any does because I had early season encounters with my target bucks and pretty much focused on them. But, each of them slipped me multiple times during bow season and I ended up getting them during gun season. 2014 - 167"+ 2013 - 142"+ I contributed about 190+ points in 2012 with a 140s class buck and a doe. I didn't play in 2011 for some reason but in 2010 I took this buck....I can't find the trophy pic, but he scored in the upper 120's. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute this year and we can win this thing.
Awesome bucks Derek....we have a good crew with access to good property....we could take the prize this year.
Great bucks derek i will have to check out your website. I'm fine with whatever name you guys want and I dont care who's captain as long as its not me lol Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Same to you man! I agree, I think we will do well this year. I am seeing a lot of deer so far this year.
Great deer Derek! Gun or bow, still trophies to me. I don't hunt with guns at all anymore but I know it still takes skill to take a mature buck with a gun regularly.
Good to see a couple of PA boys. My parents are from Ford City and Kittanning....rock sold peeps there.
Thanks. The weapon doesn't matter to me anymore. I quit gun hunting for 4 or 5 years and strictly bowhunted because I felt it was more special to kill a buck with a bow. I've also seen some bowhunters talk down to gun hunters and I caught myself joining in the conversation once. The next day I decided to carry my 30-30 into the woods. It felt really cool and brought back a ton of memories. From that moment, the weapon didn't matter...it was only about the buck I was targeting. But, if I had to choose only one weapon, it would be my bow. I do love bowhunting!
I moved to southeast KS a few months ago. Have a small 15-20 acre place to hunt in both KS & OK. I went to check cams today, had about 1500 pictures and out of all of those I had 1 spike. I know the deer are about to switch their patterns soon but the worst part is that there aren't any crop fields by either spot to my knowledge. I had a 100-110inch 8 pointer coming into one spot up until this last pull but he's the biggest guy I have on camera out here. Now Ohio is another story, have a few nice ones out there. Anyway, today was a little disappointing but it takes awhile when you're in a new place. Hope you guys have had some better luck.
I'm from the originally from southeastern Ohio around Marietta, Belpre area, which is Washington County.
