I just shot a little buck and his tarsals are starting to stink...should I freeze them and use them? If so when is the best time to do so and what is the best way to keep them?
My friend is a taxi and I get some from him every year when people bring in the whole deer for him to skin. I like to hang one near an active scrape. The reasoning being, if a buck is cruising checking his scrape, he'll think an intruder is at his scrape. I think this will work best if you can do it in a different area than where you took the buck making them believe a new guy has entered the neighborhood.
I've tried It too as has my dad. In my opinion I don't think they do any good after a day or 2, you get the wrong smell out of them. Who knows though, maybe I'll try It again some time.
