I've read a bit about them and just curious if anyone of you guys on here use or have personal experience with them? I just can't get comfortable with the idea, but am curious.
The only, and I mean only reason I wouldn't use them, whether they worked or not, is I don't care for the appearance. I know a lot of people on other sites (AT) that seem to use them and rave over them. Do a search over there and you'll find a huge thread discussing vanes vs. FOBs. I enjoy fletching and building arrows, as well as how feathered arrows look too much to use FOBs. For $17.98, would it be worth checking them out?
some people complain of how it feels weird to anchor with them....but Ive never personally shot them so IDK?
I was just looking into this. Has their been any more talk on these? Anyone new here that has, or has seen them in action?
If there was any technical advantage to use them whatsoever, why aren't professional archers whose livelyhood depends on this sort of thing using them? At larger events in the pro class a one point lead on the 3D or field archery course can mean the difference between a shootoff for $20k+, or 5th place with no $$$ at all..........and you won't find a single one of those guys using them. They may work well, but IMHO they don't do anything feathers or vanes can't do. I imagine in another year or two they will go the way of the overdraw/game tracker/kisser button.
I've played around with the idea of them, and then after my first shot I decided they were a no go. Like people have already said, it makes anchoring awkward. I have a bad habit of curling my index finger on the shelf and I did that shooting the FOBS and lost a little skin
