Reason I ask is I came across a youtube video showing how to take coins and make rings, some of the silver pre-1965 quarters, half-dollars and dollars make some pretty neat looking rings. When finished they have "United States of America" printed around the band and "In God We Trust" and I just thought they looked cool. I'd like to make one but don't know if it's okay to wear one without looking I don't have any friends or family that wear decorative jewelry so didn't know about it, figured I'd ask here. The Morgan Silver Dollar rings are the ones I think look neat...but I don't want to look either. Silver Coin Rings
Yikes dude......YouTube can be evil....you are cut off.... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
This would include me.23 years and I may wear it out on date night with the wife past that I never put it on. Too dangerous at work in the machine shop.
Married 23 years and as ultramax said maybe on date night or special occasion but too dangerous at work. Guess I have grown attached to my finger! Hutch
When you say single and still wear a ring, I first think that someone is trying to fool someone else. A ring doesn't have to be on your left hand ring finger aka wedding ring finger. And jewelry/rings per se doesn't necessarily make you DAN. I think you should make some and show us the results. And if you put it on and feel light in the loafers, your dad won't let you drive the big tractor anymore or they make fun of ya at the cafe/feed store/atwoods, you can send it to me and I'll wear it.
I take from that, that worrying about what people think is arbitrary because what anyone thinks may or may not be true or worthy of a care? (or maybe you just hate Youtube ) Yeah I hear that, I expect I'd not wear in all that often either but I don't expect it'd be in the way operating a tractor either....I just wondered if I did, what to expect, what finger to safely wear it on to avoid giving the wrong impression, etc... I've read where it's acceptable for a single guy to wear a ring on his right ring finger and on the pinky finger (supposedly) means a person is creative. I've seen pics of Elvis with a ring on his Pinky and looked ok. I thought it may even help show the ladies I'm single. Well I own my own tractors but dad may still make fun of me, Right, well if I was gay I guess I wouldn't care about something confirming it. I wore my senior class ring for a couple years and didn't worry about it but everyone knew what that was, decorative jewelry. Which is exactly what this would be and to show Patriotism, spirituality (and that I'm single) as long as other single guys don't hit on me and land me in jail for assault and battery Thanks Okie, there may be one in the mail to you at some point, lol.
I didn't know people were still insecure about wearing rings:D My wedding band in Tungsten. Have actually dropped 80lb retaining wall block on it. Still as the good as the day it was put on. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4.
Really? Ha, glad I asked! So it'd probably look okay just on the right ring finger? Neat! I wouldn't be insecure about wearing a wedding band either....I'd be perfectly happy about that and be like, I just don't want to give a wrong impression, being either that I'm or married.
I've worn one before just so I WOULD give the wrong impression. Rings are chick magnets at the bar lol
Oh my... we are worried about looking (whatever) for wearing a ring but no one is supposed to care if someone else is (whatever). I am confused. Wear the ring if you like it and who cares what someone else thinks about it. Don't wear it though while working with moving parts... climbing... and especially not welding.
I don't agree with a lot of things others practice and I don't want to look like them either. I think I'm going to get the stuff and make one or two that'll fit my right ring finger....seems safe enough. From everything I read that's the proper finger for a single guy to wear a ring if he so chooses.
I wore mine for the first couple years after we got married. Then I smash it so bad at work I had to use a pliers to get it straightened out so I could get it off my bloody finger. The wife had it fixed but I have not worn it since. Not even for date night or special occasions. Never liked wearing a ring in the first place. We have been married for 25 years now. I will be ringless for the next 25 !! Tim
I'm with matt....tungsten is the way to go...i beat the crap out of mine and not a scratch on it... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
I can't make a tungsten ring, if I were going to wear one as a wedding band and buy it...one from tungsten would be cool but all I want one for is because I thought these coin rings with the dates and text were cool and because they are silver (90% if pre 1965). If I just had a choice of wearing a plain tungsten band as an ornamental ring, I think I'd just drop the idea all together. I don't know...I just thought having a ring that said "Liberty", "In God We Trust", "United States Of America" and "200 Years Of Freedom" (in the case of a bi-centennial coin) was unique and cool and was kinda the entire point. So yeah, I did some more research this morning online and most everything I found really didn't indicate any cause for concern and people pretty much wear what they want on whatever finger they want. A video I found on men's rings and symbolism indicated it would be okay on any finger except the middle finger or the left ring finger for a single person. I went shed hunting this afternoon but when I got home I hit the shop, punched a hole in a quarter and a half dollar (non-silver ones for practice) and worked them around on a metal rod until I got them turned and shaped with a rubber mallet. Then I took a dremmel and sanded the edges and polished them. One fit my index finger (wealth and power finger) and one fit my pinky on my right hand (symbolized creativity and talent). The most interesting and neat thing I found was a line that said, "A ring is a possession, and as such, you define it - not the other way around." It also said in the article that a thumb ring could be a sign of archery They turned out pretty darn neat and I have to admit I kinda like wearing them just for something different. I'm going to get a Morgan silver dollar and make a proper one one of these days. They are kinda tricky to make, I ruined two quarters and a half dollar before I got one of each to turn out. getting a hole punched in the exact center is a lot rougher than it sounds like it would be. I still don't know if I'd wear them in public or at all but they do look pretty neat. Guess I was just feeling creative and been couped up too long over a long winter, lol.
