Mathews is now toting 2 bows with IBO speeds "up to" 350+. One has a 6" brace for 353fps and the other is a 5" brace height for 360fps. I don't know about shooting a 5" brace height, but it might be worth trying if the speed claim is legit and you can put a string supressor on it to keep it from tearing my watch off. Anyone got to shoot them? Trash or treasure? The 82nd is the other option I am looking at... if I buy one at all.

I appreciate any input... except Quicksilver:d I'm not going to shoot 3gr per inch ok buddy:busted: No, I'm just kidding. Quick does know a lot about bows, but I will be hunting with approx 400 grain arrow and 70# draw weight at 27.5" (I'm just a little guy).

remember the shorter the brace height, the less forgiving, resulting in inconsistency of arrow placement? At that short bh, wouldn't it make it hard to be consistent, unless your form is perfect everytime.
Also depends on what your using the Mathews for. If your target shooting go with it. If your gonna hunt with it go with the Bowtech.

Are you saying Bowtech's aren't good for target shooting???

Well, shootability isn't what I would be most worried about, I would be more worried about when the bow is actually gonna be released on the market. Last I heard was that the bows weren't ready to be shipped as they weren't performing up to standards.... wether this is true or not, I don't know.

I have a 82nd Airborne and was thinking about upgrading to a new bow but decided today that I am gonna hang on to this bow for awhile. I ordered new strings, cables, stabilizer, and grip for it. I just love the way it shoots. I can say that the draw cycle isn't butter smooth and it does have a little noise and handshock, but for a bow that spits arrows out at 350 f.p.s., it is pretty darn good.

That's funny. I was on the line with 25ish other guys this past Friday night with plenty 82nds, including this one punk named Rob who would love someone to challenge that Bowtechs aren't suited for targets.:deer:

Yeah, plenty of people are still waiting on shipments of the XLR8, and they're getting ancy. A lot of the extreme bows now are putting out the speeds at the sacrifice of brace height, but then again people who have shot bows like the Omen, XLR8, etc, are saying they shoot great. Great, to me, is a relative term, and I'm still skeptical.

Well, the one has a 6" BH, which is only 1/8" less than the 82nd. It would be interesting to line the 2 up and see the pros and cons. The GT500 is another one I would like to have in that line up. They are all very similar in general specs. Thanks for the responses. If I get to shoot them all I will give my report.

I am also very confused about these new speed bows. I want to commit to one of them, but I need to see them tested side by side. (By a third party of course!) I am considering the 82nd, X-Force GX, and Monster. Right now my gut tells me to stay away from the "Freaks" (Monster XLR8R and X-Force Omen UF), however, I REALLY want to see them all compared side by side before I buy. Any word on when these test results will be available?

I did not like the cams on the x-forces. It seemed like it wanted to rip my shoulder out, and beat me with it. I did like the bow, just not the cams.

I am hoping to get to shoot them this weekend (I don't know what the shop has in right now), but I am probably not the man to base your decision on. I am not near the shooter/expert that many on here are. I'll give all the info I can, but I would still suggest shooting them yourself.

My current bow has a 6.5" brace height, so dropping 1/2" or less wouldn't be a big deal I wouldn't think. Especially with how smooth these bows shoot compared to my 2001 MAthews Ultra 2. The only reason I want the speed is b/c I like having 1 pin to 30 yards, but with my current set up 33 yards at a deer is a miss if I don't adust. When spot and stalking it is easy to get the range a little wrong. If I could make that a kill instead of a miss without having to change anything except my bow, then it is worth it. Just my opinion.
