I have a nice bike, about $1200.00 worth. I have started riding it to work about 6 miles each way. I am really enjoying it and am hoping to be in really good shape come the deer season.
I'm looking to get one again. Back in my college days, I had a Trek 1200 all decked out. I prefer cycling to running. SCFox
I ride a Madone 5.5 and love it. Well worth the $5000 3 years ago. Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2
I've got a Trek and try to get on it at least once a week. I really like using it to check my cams and stuff it is much more than hopping on the quad. Mostly these days though it seems to get used just cruising around with the kids. Gonna take it with me this year along with the quad on my NM trip. Should be fun
I've started looking at some. I'm thinking a hybrid will be best for me. I have feet trouble and walking any distance on a regular basis might be more than I can handle but a bike should be just what I need. Any good ideas on a medium size hybrid under $500 sent from my samsung note 2
Got my wife a nice Trek hybrid for about that. Cant remember the model off the top of my head. I actually ride it more than mine sometimes lol
I believe it was a trek a shop here had for $700. Little more than I want to spend to get into it. They were asking $550 for a shwinn . sent from my samsung note 2
I have a Schwinn I got for $50 from a buddy that I ride around Birmingham on a pretty afternoon to mix it up from running most days.
You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to bikes. Go to a good bike shop and try several price ranges. In the long run, you will likely be happier with a little higher priced bike. Many shops will have very good used bikes that might also fit your requirements. Like bows, some guys just have to trade up all the time and that means you can buy a lot of bike for the money used. But, a cheap bike will give you problems and will not be as comfortable to ride which means you will likely not use it as much.
i have a trek 3500 mountain bike. it has disc brakes and a rally good suspension system for riding rough terrain. it has an msrp of 479 so it is right in your price range tfox and would be absolutely perfect for riding rough trails. 3500 Disc - Trek Bicycle
Yep what Fletch said plus shop around maybe hit the web CL or somethin. Believe my wifes was an older model leftovers from the previous year so it was marked down some.
I don't want a mountaun bike per say. I will be on roads more than trails. I did look at some left over models and they had plenty in the 500 range. I just wanted some varying opinions. sent from my samsung note 2
yeah this is a nice model that is a hybrid. http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/town/recreation/hybrid/verve_1/#
Do yourself a huge favor and get a really good pair of biking shorts. Pearl Izumi has some great ones. You will stay more comfortable and enjoy your rides which means you will ride more and longer.
I second the shorts if you have feet issues biking shoes are a must. I really like my Trek Madone spent more than I care to admit on it but it is a great bike. Put over 1700 miles on it my best summer usual is about 1200. We have a shorter season than most in Wisconsin. Was going to see if Ferg wanted to ride at the GTG but don't want to get dropped or Have him waiting. He is at a different level than I am.
Hey, lets ad bike accidents to this thread.. 2 summers a go, I flipped over my handle bars racing my 6yr old on my mountain bike. I ended up breaking my left clavicle and a rib. Lost about 3 mos. of work due to the injury, got back in time for rifle season. It was only a $500 GT, nothing special like some of your guy's bikes. Stay safe..
