I did, twice. I'm not sure if I'm gonna fill this thing out or not. It is "required by law" and I apparently can be fined $5,000 for not filling it out. Some of the questions are how much my mortgage is per month, if I'm able to walk up/down stairs, if I'm able to dress/bathe myself, how long does it take me to commute to work, etc. Am I being difficult or are some of these question just plain out ridiculous?
Finch, you are not being difficult. It seems our government wants to get deeply involved in our personal lives, because lets face it, they want to create some law/program based on the findings of that stupid questionnaire. We are entering an era where big government wants to rein supreme/ be socially manipulative, and we Americans are allowing it to happen because we are raising hordes of children that are mentally weak. Not weak intellectually, weak as in not standing up for what is right and doing the right thing even when you feel uncomfortable.
I don't think you're being difficult. It's just another example of U.S tax payer’s money being put to misuse. I'm sure this could be debated from all sides but seriously… doesn't something seem wrong in America? Money is being spent by our government as if our country isn’t in debt. All this does is enslave American taxpayers and future generations. Hmmm perhaps the term indentured servant sounds better. Many Americans have a gross sense of entitlement. Current data shows that Americans will be entitled to a national debt of 13+ trillion dollars (as of today). Check out the figures at http://www.usdebtclock.org . Debt per U.S citizen = 42,941 Debt per taxpayer = 120,096 That seems a bit off. I hope this is due to the number or elderly and kids and not because of illegal immigrants and those who don’t pay taxes. Hmmmm So many people have fought and given everything for this nation. To let it go down the toilet is a tragedy. The Constitution was written to guide our republic and protect the American people from unjust rule. The federal government was designed to serve in a limited fashion while states manage their own affairs effectively. The people must seek the truth and strive to better not only their own situation but the situations of those around them. It's not the federal government’s job to establish a welfare state. Allow the American people to live their lives and help each other out. The government does not need to know the majority of personal information that they desire. Nor should the American people be threatened by fines or persecution. In my opinion the current state of this nation is a little backwards in relation to the design of our nation and purpose of our Constitution. In the end, a Republic depends on a moral people. I got it. Didn't fill it out. They sent another. Didn't fill that one out either. Waiting now to see if they start calling or stopping by. We filled out the regular census (tho' I think the race questions are crap) and sent it in. But the ACS.. no way. Not filling it out.
Got it.... filled it out. Ya'll are being overly difficult. LOL Nothing says you have to answer them honestly is there. LOL Nothing in there that's going to upset my world. I have no mortgage so how hard is it to put Zero. If I couldn't walk or bath myself i probably couldn't fill out the form now could I?

On the race question I hand wrote in "Natural American of European Descent" and they sent me a 2nd one. Once again I wrote "Natural American of European Descent" and they sent someone to my door. She told me what I was writing in was not appropriate and she was going to report that I was white. We got into quite a heated debate over my race and finally she wrote "Refused to Answer" and left.
IV you just earned some major respect from me my friend. I have checked "other" on every job application/census/marriage license I have ever filled out. The lady at city hall sat there and looked at me and asked for my race a second time after I told her "other" when I was filling out my marriage license. My wife just stared at me and then laughed. I was even "told" by a higher up medical person at my work that I cannot check "other" if I was white on one of her forms. I told her in front of the entire staff of around 50 that I will not check anything other than "other". She just sat there dumbfounded. I am the biggest mutt in the world, who the hell knows what DNA lurks within my body.
Yes, my dad is a real Devil Dog of the old school variety. So I guess I am literally part mutt. Hmmmm, I guess I can use that as an excuse for a lot of my animalish behaviors!
